Question: Are these first period cramps.?

I have these on and off cramps in like my lower abdomen under my bellybutton but like right above my vagina. I don't have my period yet and my doctor says I should get it any day now. I have discharge and everything else. Could this be it.? If so should I wear a pad, panty liner or just bring one with me...
