Question: Getting the pill while on depo, help.?
im on my second depo shot.
its been about a couple weeks since i got it
well ive had my period for over a month so i
called planned parenthood [where i get it done, cant afford a real doctor]
and they told me that i be prescribed a medicine to help control the bleeding
or i can go onto the pill now instead of waiting till i need my 3rd shot [ which i am not getting, im done with this depo shot]
well i was wondering if its safe to take the pill while being on depo still and just getting a shot a couple weeks ago
and also if i should get the pill now or wait and get the medicine now instead
i really want the bleeding to stop, im 15 and its just an inconvenience.Health Question & Answer

Wow at 15 you're dealing with all this.? Well congrats for taking responsibility for your sexual health! I took one depo shot and never went back! My period is still whack! I had the shot last December after I had my daughter. I had 3 normal periods (bleeding wise) a ton of spotting, and months of no period!
I don't think it's safe to take so many types of BC at once. I know depo is slow releasing and that's how it can work for the full 3 months. I would personally wait it out until the end of the second month and go for BC when the depo has likely worn off (no unprotected sex of course).
Wherever you go, make sure they're educated and know that you're on Depo right now! The thing I'm worried about is all the hormones from the BC and Depo at the same time. It's like a super shot of birth control hormones. It may make your system whacked and it's best to let your body work itself out.Health Question & Answer

Not a DR but sounds like the meds to stop bleeding is probably the best choice. all those birth control have hormones in them & it will probably start to make you feel sick taking too much. i personally get sick from even the low dose birth control pill.
maybe they will give u both at ur visit so u dont have to make 2 trips & start the pill whenever u are due for ur next shot. I would use condoms just in case u are not fully protected during the transition.

some thing happen to me I was 16 and like 110 pound got the depo and had a period every other week for 3 months! Try the pill next time worked for me..

just to be on the safe side I would wait until its almost time say one month before you where suppose to have your next shot before going on pill that way you will still be covered from pregnancy and not having to much of estrogen in your body which can cause you trouble.It will still most likely take you at least a month or two to get your body back to normal but I have given ALOT of these shots to girls and I absolutely hate them they cause so much side effects but if your not responsible with your body then they are the best Birth control you can have .We have a lot of girls that their moms bring them in because they know they will be sexually active and the shot is the best way for parents to monitor their children .So remember that BCP are great but if you miss one you can get preg real easy because we like to say in the medical field they have just enough in them to keep you from getting preg but if you mess up then its just enough to get you preg.Health Question & Answer
