Well the best way to answer that is find out yourself! Your hymen is the thin membrane around the hole you finger yourself. Usually girls' hymens break when they lose their virginity or go horse-riding, swimming, etc. You could just look for it with or without a mirror, or, um, feel around for it.
When you were ten you might not have hit puberty yet so you couldn't do it. To be able to finger yourself the vagina has to be properly aroused and thus lubricated, or else blood won't rush to the vagina and stretch the urethra opening to make room for you-can-probably-guess-what, and it would hurt. You can only produce fluid down there if you've hit puberty, so by age 13 you're probably able to do it now bcuz of this. Health Question & Answer

When you were 10, it is likely you hadn't hit puberty yet. Your vaginal muscles had to reason to relax themselves in such a way as to allow for the penetration of anything. Think of it as unripe, if you will. Now that you've hit puberty, your body is ready for things to penetrate it.
