I have a little sister of the age of 12. Her best friend is her mom... she is to afraid to stay alone by herself, if somebody is home and it isn't her mom, she spends the day in her moms room until she gets home. and if her mom is home, she never leaves the room shes in, including when she takes a bath. that's they're special time to talk apparently. she consults her mom before anything and everything she does. Iv'e given up even mentioning it, because according to her mom its completely normal... that can't be true right.? whether it is or not, its completely annoyingHealth Question & Answer

Some young girls go through a stage where they form strong attachments to their mothers, but that one seems a bit extreme for a girl nearly in her teens. It sounds like she is a step-sister, is it possible that something traumatic might have happened to her in her past that causes her to act this way.? If nothing has, then yes it is a strange and unhealthy relationship. She should not rely on her mother so much. Hopefully she will grow out of it. If it continues I would calmly bring it up again until it is acknowledged by her mother (though she may get angry with you, then I'd back off a bit). Some boundaries need to be set or she will never survive on her own. Encourage her to make friends if she doesn't already have some. Mm, it seems a little odd. While I DO sometimes talk to my mom while she bathes, I usually just do it to annoy her. xD Either way, she might grow out of it. Maybe she's just really clingy. Has she ever had continuous nightmares about losing her mother.? You could try asking her about it..if it doesn't go away she should she a psychiatrist.
