Is it normal for vaginal discharges to smell bad.? I looked around in Yahoo Answers, and I see people say the discharge is normal but it still doesn't feel normal.

The trick here is to know your body. Everybody is a bit different. A discharge perse is normal. That is discharging or the act of it is normal. The question really then is if a particular discharge normal. The trick is in the color and smell. Private parts smell. Its just the way it is. It will smell different by different people. What you eat will also affect its smell. Even if you are dirty and do not clean it will smell different than when it is dirty. However, there is a big different in how it smells. You should know your own smell. If you are clean and it has like an earthy kind of smell or to your usual and the discharge looks natural, like ckear or whitish then is ok. If you are not clean like for example you where working in the sun all day then don't expect it to smell at its best. However, it should have a dirty smell not an infected smell. When a person has an infection the smell is pretty bad. It is not the usual smell, is a sickly smell. That is what is important. also, if the discharge looks wrong like greenish or sickly color. A color that indicates there is something not right then be suspicious. Look for other signs like itchiness, redness and what not. also, look at the activities you have been doing in the past few days or week. If you have been sexually active with a person especially someone you don't know well, then it is fair to say it could be a VD but, this will have to be looked at by a doctor. If you haven't been sexually active then it may be just an infection. I mean noone knows you better than yourself. If you think it falls out side of the norm then it probably does
Your doctor should had taken a look not just pass opinion based on a description. Remember people like you and me are not experts. We kind of learn by experience. Is like a mechanic. The average Joe will know enough to tell the basic of a car. The battery is dead, the breaks are bad, the tires are blowend. When you take the car to the mechanic he should take a look and easily tell whats wrong. Go to the doctor again and have him/her take a look. If not go to a different doctor or a bgyn or whatever is called.

it might have a smell to it when you have an infection. it could be something as bad as an std or juts from your general care. some toilet paper can give you an infection. fabric from your panties.? sweat from moving walking or exercise. even some body washes when you wash there can cause an infection. im diabetic so i tend to get alot of UTI. this may sound wierd, but eating yogert helps. make sure you wash yourself. scented panty liners will help and change your undies too. i go through atleast 2-3 pairs a day. just so there is nothing sitting down there to cause an infection. not just what comes out of you.. but when you sweat it can cause infections and breakouts.Health Question & Answer
No, it doesn't normally smell bad. Puss could mean a viral infection. Did they give you a diagnosis or medication.? Did they check it out or did you just discuss it.? I would call back and ask them more questions and either have it checked or see a gynecologist.
