HELP! In school, I got my periods so what do I do?!

Question: HELP! In school, I got my periods so what do I do.?
Tell me when to put on pads like after restroom use or every morning or something like that. Where should I throw away my pad. When and how long do they come and stop. Anything else would help. THANKS! Health Question & Answer

Congrats! Welcome to womanhood!

First of all there are different pad brands and the sizes. I suggest using Kotex or Stay Free. Those work the best in my opinon, always, ehhhh those bleed through for me. But that's just me. Ask someone like your Mom or if you have a sister what works best. You'll need different pads. Get regular, Maxi, pantiliners and overnight. Regular is obviously for a regular flow, Maxi is usually the 1-4 day for me. They usually last 7-8 days for me. (probably anywhere from 2-12 days for girls you just started!) Pantiliners are for the last few days, it will ease when it's almost over for the month. also, you can use that when it's about 5 days away from getting it for that month. Overnight you wear before you go to sleep. Ask you Mom or someone to trust to tell you more

You should change the pad every 4-8 hours. Keep some in your backpack so you can change during school. Or even when it feels uncomfortable or when it's pretty full. Wear like a jacket and quickly sneak the pad into your pocket so no one can see. I got my first period when I was 11 and I was only in 5th grade, no lockers, and a Man for a teacher! It was horrible! Anyways, in the girls bathrooms, there should be like a basket or a white bin that hangs on the side or something. Take your pad off, roll it up, and roll it in toilet paper, then throw it away in the bin or basket. They have those in all public restrooms in the ladies bathrooms. DO NOT THROW THEM IN THE TOILET!!!!! That will clog the toilet.

And lastly, they can last anywhere from 1-15 days! Since you just started, it depends. When I first started my first few months, they lasted about 10 days and eventually get less. Now they're about 7-8 days. But, that's just me, every girl is different. Mark your calendar like, i cross off everyday on the calendar, and I use like black or red pen marking on the first day I got it until the last. Look back every month when you think you're going to start soon. This way, wear a pantiliner a few days before. Usually you'll feel bloated the day before or a few days before you get it. You'll get discharge so your body is getting ready for it. And your breasts will fell sore. Even getting lower abdomen and back pain is one sign.

I really hope this helped you! If you want to learn more, ask someone you trust. (Mom is the best person! =] ) Or look it up on the computer. Just don't be afraid to talk to your mom about this. Every girl is going to get it, nothing weird. And she'll probably ask you if you're getting low on pads or something, so you'll get used to it! Once again Congrats!!!! xDDD Health Question & Answer

Okay. When you get up in the morning, use a pad. Then, when that one gets covered in blood, change your pad. I can't give you exact times because I don't know how heavy your periods are. In the bathroom stalls, there might be silver boxes hanging inside the stall; those are for pads. My school didn't have them, so when I change a pad, I wrapped it up in toilet paper and threw it away in the bathroom garbage can. It's as simple as that; just wrap it up in toilet paper (because no one really wants to see your bloody pad). Your best bet is just to carry a few pads in your purse just in case. On general, they come once a month, but since you're fairly young, it won't be unusual to skip a month here and there. They do stop when you get old- like 50 or so, but you'e stuck with them for a while.

If you have cramps, major food cravings, headaches, or mood swings, those are all parts of it, and you may gain weight temporarily. Periods can last anywhere from one day to a week. It's not really an exact science. If you get blood on your clothes, wash them out with just plain old cold water or peroxide. also, keep a jacket in your backpack or locker. Then, if you have an accident, you can just wrap a jacket around your waist- no questions asked.

I started during school, too- worse Valentine's Day surprise I ever got. Health Question & Answer

Ask to be excused. If your teacher says no, tell them "it's a girl issue" and they'll let you go. Go to the restroom and roll up a bunch of toilet paper over and over and put in the center of your panties. Then take some more and roll it around the first layer and under your panties so it's held in place. You should change it any time you start to feel wet or uncomfortable. Change it in the restroom and it's ok to flush pads or toilet paper down the toilet, but not tampons. Pads just stick to your underwear so they're really easy. Tampons are a different issue and I advise you talk to your health teacher and/or mom about them. also, wait a few months or more before you start using tampons, you'll have gotten used to your period by then. It depends on how often they come and go for girls. Every twenty-eight days for me, but it could be more for you. They stay from four to seven days (maybe longer) and come back usually the same time every month. Since you first started, your periods are probably NOT going to be regular so don't freak out if you skip a day saying "I'm pregnant, OMG OMG!!!" because you're not if you haven't had sex yet. You can usually tell when your period is about to start because your discharge (the white icky stuff that ends up on your underwear) will get heavier and stickyer. (At least that's how it was for me.) Talk to your mom about any other questions or your doctor next time you go there. Remember, your eggs are ready to be fertilized now, don't go fooling around. Keep your clothes on!!! Lol. Good luck. Go ask your mother if you can go to a spa to celebrate, that's what I did and it was AWESOME!!! =))>Health Question & Answer

Periods just occur when they are ready. It depends on your body and hormones how long they last for and how often. Use the restroom after classes and at break times, They have sanitary bins normally in the cubicles next to the toilet. Dispose there. If you feel the need to go during class explain you have lady problems- this 99% works with male teachers. All you need say is "lady problems" and they don't want to hear any more so let you go! hope this helps :)

i would usually change my pad every time i used the bathroom and at lunch to be safe. throw them away in the garbage (in bathrooms they usually have that little metal box for you to put "personal items" in like pads or tampons)
period started...well u just said it started so i'm not sure what you're asking...
periods usually stay anywhere from 3/4 days to a week. everyone is different.
really if you're old enough to have a period you should have had this talk.
i recommend tampons if you're ready. no odor if you use those.Health Question & Answer

1. Talk to your mom.

2. Put the pads on every few hours depending on how heavy it is, your main goal is just for it not to soak through. And as for where to put them afterwards there are silver trash cans on the wall in every stall of bathrooms. Put them in there. DO NOT FLUSH THEM DOWN THE TOILET! And you will get them every month for about a week. Health Question & Answer

i started my period when i was 12 and i was in math class..oh my god i was i upset!! i change pads when they look like they need it..when it seems uncomfortable to you! throw them away in trash cans NOT DOWN THE TOILET! they come between every 28 days to 35 days..mines always whenever it wants to and im 19 now! hope that helps some! :DHealth Question & Answer

What I did was put a extra pair of pants and unerwear in my locker. You can use a pad or a tampon. You will have to change either of them anyway. Remember to change it every 3 hours. Good Luck. Health Question & Answer

go to the bathroom and put on the pad...when you take it off wrap it and put on another pad if you're still bleeding...i suggest you shower at least 2ice a day while on your period...Health Question & Answer

Heyy. I got mine when I was 11 on a wednesday. Lucky for me, I got it at night and woke up soaked. Ugh. I stayed home for 3 days. Anyway, definately put on a fresh pad right before you leave school. Be sure to find a pad that works for you and one that makes you feel more comfortable. Bring a purse with you to school. At can be small if you like. You can keep that pad in ur desk/locker and go into the bathroom at about.. 10:00 or so.? If your period is pretty light, you can put on a new pad at 11:00 instead. Its really up to you. Then at the end of the day, at around 2:30 or so, ask to go to the bathroom and put on a fresh pad. If your teacher dosnt let you go, be sure to tell her its an emergency. If she still says no, just walk out. You can always go to the nurse so she can tell your teacher why you walked out of the classroom and he or she will understand. If you are too nervous to just walk out, you can let you teacher know, or ask the nurse to tell your teacher your on ur period. So if you ask her to go to the bathroom, she will let you go. Or she will let you walk out of the room without asking.
Be sure NOT to flush the pad in the garbadge. Heres what I do. When im in the bathroom, I unwarap a new pad. Wrap the used one if toilet paper and the wrap it with the wrapper from the fresh pad. If you use always, the wrapper has a little white sticker closing it. You can reuse that and close it up. Then, walk out of the bathroom and just throw the pad away. There ya go! Remember. Your period isnt as bad as it seems. You just have to be prepared. You'll get used to it after a few months. Oh ya, and try to wear dark comfy clothes. You can always keep a change of pants and underwear in your purse/locker/desk/backpack. If you tend to get your period in school alot, you can wear liners every day. Last month, I got my period in gym. I was fine bcuz I was wearing a panty liner. Your period is usually very very light the first day. If your not comfortable wearing a liner everyday, just wear one when your expecting your period. :)

Hope this helped. Good luck! xHealth Question & Answer
