Foul smelling discharge?!
Question: Foul smelling discharge.?
I am having a really smelly discharge from my vagina, which i think smells of faeces. It is clearish, and quite gushy; i have to change a sanitary towel every 1-2 hours.
I've been to the doctor, and without taking a swab he's told me i have bacterial vaginosis and put me on antibiotics. I've read about it on the internet and it says it's a fishy smell, and this isn't. I've been on them a few days now and had no change.
It's disgusting and i'm worried something is very wrong. Sorry for all the embarrassing detail but really would like to know if anyone else has anyone else suffered from this.? Health Question & Answer

Metronidazole is the common treatment. It clears BV in most cases.
The usual dose is 400 mg bd for seven days. You should notice an improvement within 3 -4 days, if the problem persists after you finish your course of antibiotics, then seek further advise from your GP. This time he'll likely take a swab, send it away for testing then treat accordingly.

i have suffered from vaginal bacteriosis and the smell can vary at different times of the month, mostly fishy but on occassion it smelt really musty - cant rememeber if it smelt shitty though!
it does take a while to clear up and i had to have two lots of antibiotics to clear it.
stick with it for a while and see if it improves. if you still have it after the tablets go back to the doctor.

It could be another kind of infection so I would go back to the doctor, or to another doctor. Or it could be an STD or something like that.Health Question & Answer
