She loves 'ice' more than her son!?!

She has an addiction which is hard for anyone to understand unless they've been there. She needs professional help to get past it, because its a downward spiral. It's not an excuse though. She loves her son enough to know that he's better off not being with her while she goes through this. I can see your dilemma - as much as you know he needs his mum, you want to protect him from her at the same time. Maybe you need to do an intervention, sit her down and explain that her son needs a permanent stable arrangement, and if she can't get her act together that you will apply for permanent custody. Maybe that will shake her up a bit. Either way, she will need professional help to stay clean. of course the boy surely misses his mother. on the other hand the mother seems not to miss his son. well this is really not good for a mother to neglect his son. i think your friend needs professional help. a normal mom will miss her kid and not exchange them for anything in this world, but obviously i sensed there is a problem with Haydens mom. ask her to go to a doc or better still accompany her to see one, a psychiatrist or whatever you think is best for her.Health Question & Answer
