Ladies, any help/advice about lil sis and tampons?!

Question: Ladies, any help/advice about lil sis and tampons.?
The kiddo is 12 years old and started her period about a year ago. And it was pretty hectic trying to get the right pads for her. lol.

Though, she'd been asking about tampons lately and it was definitely a pretty awkward situation. After a long talk with her and discussed it with some of my female friends (thank god for them, aha), I finally agreed and allowed her to get some.

She is a small, petite girl and we're planning to go to the store later this weekend to pick up some. She's also very outgoing and athletic if that makes any difference.

What are your recommendations (like, which brand/type is "best" for a preteen and athletic girl).?

I should really be paid for this kind of thing and my undying brotherly gesture. Damn, hahah. :(Health Question & Answer

Answers:
for her first tampons i would suggest tampax pearl. Just take my word for it that they will be easier to use for a beginner. Don't know what size she needs, so I would suggest getting a pack with all the sizes in it and let her figure it out. also, she should probably wear back up pad/pantiliner until she knows what size is right for her flow.

TMI sorta, but you asked.. good brother that you are!Health Question & Answer

Tampax Pearl is great because of the material and plastic it's made out of.

For her first time, she should probably start out with "light" just to get used to the tampon, and slowly move her way up to "regular" and then "super" when she needs it.Health Question & Answer

Well I recomend playtex gentle glide. I've been using them since i started my periods last summer and i think they're easy to put in and stuff. (cause ur a guy, i won't go into any more deatail than tht haha) good luck with ur sister and btw if any of ur female friends will, u might want to ask one of them to help ur sis learn how 2 put it in. My older sis had to help me. =]Health Question & Answer

Well my little cousin had the same problem haha. what me and my older cousin did was we were patient and then she still didnt get it and we actually demonstrated to her. it still didnt work so we got my mom in there and she was about to do it for her but she finally got it. go mom!Health Question & Answer

I prefer the tampax "pearl" ones, definitely make sure they are plastic applicators and get "regular" ones unless she has really heavy periods. I found that I couldn't wear tampons comfortably until after I was sexually active.Health Question & Answer

because she is very young and Innocent!!!!!!!!! i would get her tampax pearl the "LITES"!! it's as small as you get to a tampon size and it won't feel that much uncomfortable for her.Health Question & Answer

when i first started using them, i used playtex slimfits and they work well lol so id recommend those. but you also said she is kind of athletic so u might also want to try playtex sport

hope this helps and good luck :)Health Question & Answer

Aw you're so nice you're helping your little sister with that! My brother would never haha.
The only brand I will ever use is Playtex Gentle Glide. I learned how to use my first one with these, and they are so easy to insert because they have a plastic applicator. I tried the Playtex Sport ones, and I wasn't a fan. They're just much smaller than Gentle Glide, and the applicator is different, but other than that, it's not that special. When she is first using them in public, tell her to wear a pad the first couple times, just in case she leaks.
Sorry if that was too detailed... lolHealth Question & Answer
