i started my period when i was almost 13 also it was never normal from the start sometimes i would have it for two weeks, bad cramps and bad stomach my mom took me to the doctor and she gave me provera to stop it.then sometimes if i hadn't had it i would have to use it to start it it is very normal for some girls to go through that the older i get the less severe it is.im 32 and im still having to take provera but now it lasts 7 days and i can handle the cramps and stuff.at around 18 years old my period came every month on time for a year so you will get better.maybe you need to change the type of birth control i decided to try one type of bc to see if it would regulate me and i had my period for 27 days! so i will not be trying those again but to prevent pregnancy you should be on it.well good luck and God Bless! also maybe your mom can try and find something that you can be on where you can get your period every month so when you do get it it wont be so bad i hope this has helpedHealth Question & Answer

This is extremely normal! i am 13 too. I had very heavy periods, and my sis had irregular periods. My mom took us to the gyneocologist, and he put us on some birth control, but that didn't work. so my mom took us back again, he put us on another Bcontrol. Then when that ddidn't work, he gave me Yazmin, and my sis Yaz (yazmin is stronger) i also had very bad cramps so he gave me some meds for that, and i use it whenever i have cramps. also, you may have bleeding during the first part of the pill. I'm not sure why you had a very heavy period. Your periods will probbably be irregular for a while, so maybe talk to your mom, and she can take you to the gyno (if you aren't sexually active, you don't have too undress) and he can maybe give you some stronger bcontrol. There is probably nothing wrong with you, but if there is your gyno can tell you, and there is most likely medicene to cure it!

I have been to the gyno many times, and he helps me with all of my problems! don't worry about the problems, just go to the gyno, and let him help you, or your mom may know what is wrong! don't stress!Health Question & Answer

Just because your periods have started doesn't mean your hormones are at a level peak. One month they may be high enough to trigger a period and then for the next three months too low for a period. This is basically normal. However, since you're at a good age to start Pap smears then go have this done and discuss this with your doc. You could have endometriosis but it's unlikely considering your age. Health Question & Answer

Sometimes young girls have difficult period from first menstruation up to fully developed regular menstrual cycles. It will take some time to fully develop your mature regular menstrual cycle. Please be also informed that in general menstrual cycles are very sensitive to stress, emotional situations, infections, medication, etc.
Just be patient. Usually by 18-20 year the menstrual cycle will be fully development, your hormones will develop your own (personal) cycle and your menstrual cycle will be regular.

when you first get your period it's sometimes REALLY funky. my cousin got her period for a good 5 months then didn't get it for 2 years until she was 15. don't get freaked out even though i know it's probably really scary. just hang in there :] also if you're having as bad cramps as you say you are, i would try the birth control pills that only give you periods like 4 times a year. i think they're called seasonique. that might ease your cramps :] hope that helps :] Health Question & Answer

bad cramping can definitely be caused by endometriosis. Get that checked out by your doctor.

But don't worry too much about being irregular. I started my first period when I was about 11. I'm 17 now and I'm still never on schedule. Sometimes I have a period every month and other times I have a huge gap of up to 4-5 months.Health Question & Answer

Unfortunately, it takes YEARS for your period to become regular. I'm 22 and mine is just now predictable. It's never been quite as random as yours, but it has fluctuated. For some reason your period even readjusts to match the women you hang around most. I have no idea why this happens, but it does. Birth control may help, but my suggestion is to keep a pad/tampon handy at all times and just be patient with your body.Health Question & Answer

when you have endometriosis you have monthly periods.

In general, women with endometriosis:
get their monthly period
are 27-years-old on average

you are so irregular because you are young. your body has not finished puberty. it will become regular as you get older. don't worry about it.Health Question & Answer

Talk to your doctor there are pills out there that will lighten you period but it took me about 2yrs to get a normal period and by that I mean normal for you not everyone is the same. Four months is a very long time to have your period I would see a obgyn. Health Question & Answer

It would be almost weird for your periods not to be irregular at that young of an age. You haven't had your period for that long and your hormones, ovaries, and all that lovely stuff has some adjusting to do.Health Question & Answer

I had a friend that had endreometriosis, and after 2 years, she finally agreed to go to the hospital about it.

They said she could have died if she waited any longer.

So you might want to check into that.Health Question & Answer
