Question: Will taking tylenol extra strength affect my birth control.?
I got my period today, and had bad cramps so I took two tylenol extra strengths. Since I started my period I now have to start a pack of birth control .. would taking the tylenol change the effectiveness of the birth control at all.?Health Question & Answer

No. Tylenol is not an antibiotic for one and it there is no known contradiction between tylenol and birth control. The known contradictions are st. johns wort, antibiotics and epilespy meds (sometimes used as mood stabilisers for bipolar). Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about your concerns if you are using these meds. Another one that is being studied is echinecia and birth control so, I'd avoid that for now. Actually, I'd avoid all herbal medication while on the pill. also, if you are over weight it's possible that the pill will not work as effectively as it would for women of healthy weightsHealth Question & Answer
