woah you are really lost

okay the first off the plastic part around the cotton part is just so that you can slide the tampon into your area because the cotton part is too dry so it wont go up there alone

-so once you get your tampon out of its box, make sure the wrapper is not open, if so get another one
-tug on the cotton string coming out of the tube make sure its attaches properly, don't tug on it too hard, you don't want to end up ruining the plastic
-so you take the tampon and where you see the rings you hold that area
-you squat and insert the entire tampon into your area but lean it to the back of your area, don't stick it straight up because it will hurt and glide it in slowly, if you must you can wiggle it a little to make it slide because some people may have a dry area where the blood hasn't touched yet so it wont slide in
-after you slide the plastic in your area make sure the ring areas where your fingers are touch your area
-next you push the long plastic stick/tube thingy up so the cotton part gets pushed up into your area
-then you just simply pull out the plastic, make sure the string of the tampon is sticking out then you are good to go

after you put it in walk around a bit make sure it is in properly, because if it isnt it will bug you all day and it will hurt

if it is your first time using it, don't leave it in for a total of 8 hours because you don't know how much blood will be soaked in. try about 5 or 6 hours the first time, you have to look at the tampon to see how much blood has bee adsorbed so the next time you wear a tampon, you know to wear it a longer time period or a shorter time period. if you wore it for 5 hours and you took out the tampon, but there is still alot of white areas you can wear it for 6 hours or more, depends, on how much white areas there is, but if you leaked still then try wearing it for 4 hours

always wear a pantyliner, you never know if you will leak a little or not. its just to be certain the blood doesn't get onto your undies

while pulling the tampon out squat over the toilet, relax yourself, because it tends to hurt if you are tense. when i do it i breathe all my air out then pull out the tampon, because it releases all ther nerves muscles down there and its easier for the tampon to slide out

i really hope this helps

tampons save so much time, you dont have to change it as often as pads and you can swim with them but i advise you to not wear it when you sleep because your area needs to breathe

and dont leave it in for more than 8 hours because you can get it infected, thats called TSS toxic shock syndrome

Hey hun!!!

I'm asuuming that this is your first time using a tampon.

Since you've made the decision to use them, make sure you read the instructions that came in the package. Please read it, it talks about T.S.S. (toxic shock syndrome), informs you on the size of tampon to use, and the amount of time you should wear one.

Now, what you want to do is get comfortable. Either sit on a toilet or prop one leg up on the toilet or tub. I find it more comfortable to sit on the toilet.

When you you remove the tampon from the box, make sure that the plastic paper it's in, is not torn or open. If so discard and gat another one. Once you open it, you should see the plastic applicator and hanging out of the bottom should be a cotton string. Tug on the string gently to make sure it is connected to the cotton piece at the top.

Hold the tampon around the finger grooves and insert the tampon, until your fingers touch you vulva. Push the end of the applicator stick and the cotton swab will insert into your vagina. And you know have a tampon in. Check to make sure you feel the string hanging out. That way, when its times to change it later, you can pull the string and the tampon will come out.

Make sure you check each tampon before you insert it. also, remember that you have the tampon in before you try to insert another. I've known girls who have done that before, so becareful and be cautious.

Hope I've helped hun. If you're still nervous and you don't feel comfortabl asking your mom or another female in your family. You can always ask the school nurse.

What you are inserting is inside the plastic applicator. You want to get the plastic applicator out of your body after pushing in the cotton that absorbs the fluid. The plastic applicator is to keep the cotton clean. How can you insert a wad of cotton up your hoo ha without a smooth applicator.? JEEZE. Can't you ask your mother these kinds of questions.?Health Question & Answer

I'm assuming the plastic you are talking about is the applicator, which will go in at first, but you push the cotton part in, and pull back the applicator so only the cotton remains inside you.

Or better yet...read the directions!! They tell you all you need to know. With diagrams!Health Question & Answer
