Answers:
all doctors should take your medical concerns seriously. you just have to make the choice of taking to your general practitioner about it or a therapist.

i'm 18 and i started seeing a therapist about 6 months ago about the possibility of me having depression. she took me more seriously than any of my friends or family did. psychiatrists and therapists can help you figure out what's going on without starting medication right away. you might not even need medication, like in my case, i just needed someone to help me through all the changes that i was going through that were making me feel depressed.

overall i think if you trust the doctor or therapist that you see and you are serious with what you are talking about then they should give you the respect and seriousness that you want. Health Question & Answer

They will take you seriously - but only if you're completely serious, if you understand me.

Plenty of people get "depressed" but it usually passes after a time. Hormones can affect your mood too. I'm only saying this, since it's unusual to be depressed at such a young age.

If you're only depressed at certain times of the month or only for a while at a time - there's probably nothing wrong with you.

However, if you've been feeling "blue" for a long time now, or if things are getting bad (self loathing etc) then seeing your doctor is the first route to take.

You can also call the Samaritans, or another such association, just to get you through it or to get advice on how to cope etc.

Hope all goes well.Health Question & Answer

Have you tried exercise, eating healthy, and staying active.? Many times depression is a symptom of inactivity and poor diet, especially in young people. It may also be a symptom of stress, is school difficult.?

A doctor will take you very seriously but if you are just looking to medicate your self it won't necessarily solve the root of your problem. Diet and inactivity are the number one causes of teenage depression.Health Question & Answer

Depression is a serious matter. There is no reason that the doctor would not take you serious. If the doctor doesn't take you serious they have no reason to be practicing medicine. If you find that the doctor is not taking your serious or is not as concerned as you are, you have every right to seek a second opinion.

Good Luck

Yeah because thats a normal stage where depression start. Just try to find something you like to do while waiting to see a doctor. Depression sucks but you just have to find something that you enjoy doing in life. Dont do drugs or drink; its only fun until your high goes down and at the end of the day its just not worth it.Health Question & Answer

Yes they will. That is basically a therapists job, they listen to your problems, and they would probably take in consideration that everyone's depression can go far, to suicide or something terrible. So they will open mindly listen to your problems of course.
Good luck.Health Question & Answer
