i've been using pads but i hate the fact that you're sitting IN it... so i REALLY want to start using tampons, + i horseride alot so i really want to. anyway, whenever i try it hurts like HELL and i cant even find a hole to put it in!!!! i know where your vagina is but there is a big blob of skin there so i cant get it in!!! am i deformed.?.?.? someone PLEASE help and i really dont wanna go see a gp :( please someone help me thank you SO much!!Health Question & Answer

Read about the hymen online. Most young women have one; and yes, it can be broken in all the ways mentioned below, i.e. horseback riding, (but not in your case apparently), sports, trauma, anything. It was called a "maidenhead" in the mideival days, because a "maiden" was a young woman, usually a virgin. It is a tough layer of skin that protects the entrance of the vagina. My suggestion to you is to study up on it either online or in a book, and learn what your vagina looks like in a mirror compared to one in a medical book or another sort of diagram. A mirror is important in order to learn how to navigate down below. If you need a coach, ask a woman who has been using tampons for years; perhaps your mother or an older cousin or something. Perhaps she can stand outside the bathroom door and coach you. It's a good idea to navigate with a finger first because then you will know what it feels like when you are inside. Use ultra-slim tampons, and lubricate the area with some KY personal lubricant. If you can't get around the hymen, then you should go to the gynecologist so he or she can help you locate the entrance. It will be helpful in the long-run. Sometimes that doctor can make numb the area and make a small incision in the hymen. Since you get your period, the entrance should be big enough to get a small tampon into, so remember, learn your anatomy, get some lubricant, ease in a finger, use extra slim tampons, employ a coach, and TAKE IT SLOW!!! Be gentle and slow. And eventually you will get it in. Every woman has to go through this discomfort, sweetheart. It is okay to be afraid for the first time. The big blob of skin as call it is your hymen. most hymens have a opening within which allows the passing of menstrual blood. A tampon should fit. However if you are experiencing discomfort and pain I would strongly suggest seeing a Doctor who can examine and if necessary perform a hymenectomy or simply remove the hymen. You're probably not deformed. Lay down in bed, and get a handheld mirror and just take a look down there, try to find the opening. Don't hesitate to feel around. awww ! dont worry it takes time just keep practicing youll get it ! yur not deformed but the thing yu have to remeber is that you must be relaxed ! put one leg on the toilet and one on the floor and try usuing O.B tampons the ones without a applicator its alot easier at firstt to use just your finger ! i promise youll gte just grab a box and practice while your on your period !Health Question & Answer

i had the same problem.
my friend told me to fold the toliet seat over, and put a mirror on it, then try and put the tampon in that way so you can actually find the hole.
