What are the disadvantages by taking the contraceptive pill?!

Question: What are the disadvantages by taking the contraceptive pill.?

I have really bad period pains..sometimes it gets really bad and I faint.
Iv been to the docs and she put me on something else..but its doesnt work..she said if it doesnt, I should go back and she will put me on the contraceptive pill. Are there any disadvantages when taking it.?.?

Answers:

not really, mood swings, it can also increase the chance of getting cancer but this is unlikely.
the pill is good because u get hardly any period pains and your periods will be much lighter
