I have very long and painful periods. Could this cause anemia? 10 pts?!

Question: I have very long and painful periods. Could this cause anemia.? 10 pts.?
I'm always tired. My cheeks are always pale. My period are sometimes normal length, but many times are 8 days. My periods hurt so bad I have to stay in bed until it starts getting better. I've never had a 'light' period.

I pretty much get every cold and flu that passes through town.

Could loss of blood from my period lead to anemia.? Should I go see a GP.? Health Question & Answer

Yes you must see a GP,
If you're always having a heavy period, the doc can definitely help you, heavy periods can most certainly cause anemia,
I had a similar problem with colds and flu and underwent a long course of treatment aimed at improving my immunity
Don't hesitate, please go and see your doc, you'll only prolong your misery by doing nothing about it. there are definite medical treatments for heavy menses. So don't wait and just go!Health Question & Answer

Its unlikely that your just a candidate for a "MISERABLE Period"(if dudes only knew)lol, But if you get on the pill, I can promise you, No more long periods, Cramps almost disappear, and complextion clears up!!!! I PROMISE, Fear Not, the 10pounds it says u may gain, you'll never notice, its mostly water gain anyways,...Good luck, Sincerely, kelle*Health Question & Answer

Yes you could be anemic. Much depends on your diet and if you take supplements with iron. There could be other things going on too and since you're concerned, have a physician check you.Health Question & Answer
