Abnormal pap, could be HPV?!

Question: Abnormal pap, could be HPV.?
Yesterday I got a call from my doctor's office saying that my pap came back abnormal.

I had a pap May 7th (came out fine) and because I'm recently (10 weeks pregnant), they wanted to do another. They did the new one on September 30th and then they say that this one is abnormal.

How could one be normal and then 4 months later the other be abnormal.? They say that they have to do some other test in December, but that's a long time to wait.

Just the basic: I am happily married, we don't cheat on each other. I'm 20 years old. 10 weeks pregnant with #2.

Will this affect my pregnancy.?Health Question & Answer

My doctors tried to scare me like this too. After 8 years of normal paps I had one after my 2nd child and it came back abnormal. They wanted to do a colposcopy and I told them hell no and to try redoing the pap first. They did and it came back normal. You are pregnant of course stuff is changing down there I'm sure its nothing and more than likely its hormonal {like mine}. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

It wont affect your pregnancy.

I had my first abnormal smear sept 07. I had colposcopy in Feb 08 (when i was 5 months pregnant) there was some changes but they couldnt do a biopsy as i was pregnant. I had another colposcopy last week and they did a biopsy as i had my baby 3 months ago. They can change in a matter of months, it may go back to normal , they will keep checking itHealth Question & Answer

Get a second pap, I also received a false abnormal that was later rectified.Health Question & Answer

I would get another pap before you get any invasive procedure done. It's better to be safe when it comes to your baby. Good luck! Health Question & Answer
