Question: Does starving yourself while pregnant harm the baby.?
If someone developed an eating disorder (anorexia, for example) whilst they were round about 12wks pregnant, would the baby die.?

If they stopped eating all together not only would they be very ill, the baby would not develop properly - the bone structure, organs etc, so it would be a very sick, if not dead baby.

Yep im sure it will harm the baby as the baby will not be receiving the nutrition and stuff it needs to grow properly.
I was told when i was pregnant i needed to put on some weight as my BMI was low saying i was underweight & im not even very thin.
I think (Sorry if im wrong) being underweight can make you higher risk of a premature birth and a higher risk of miscarriage.Health Question & Answer

my mam developed one when pregnant with me because my dad died, but I'm OK, this wasn't for any extensive period of time though (like a month) and I think that she was forced to eat too. But I'm a 13stone guy and I did OK at school.
I would suggest not doing it though, as I say she was forced to eat.

There was a test done that my father told me about a few years ago where they managed to grow a baby or keep it alive for want of better words, on 13 mars bars. So yes im sure it would have some serious repercussions.

ooh, let me see..............of course it will ham the baby. It won't kill it, but the child will be very undersized, under-developed and malnourished. Any woman who is anorexic really should use contraception if she's unable to bother about a babyHealth Question & Answer
