Do I have a sex drive?!

Question: Do I have a sex drive.?
First of all my body doesn't produce any hormones in my body at all. So I had to get on birth control pills(I'm 23) and been on it since June.

Anyway before this I didn't have any sexual or romantic emotions.

Well I've been on it for 4 months now. So I was wondering if you can tell me if the following is considered having a sex drive:

I get warm and wet down there for only a few seconds but my genitals are swollen and wet for a long time. That is when I read erotic fanfiction, heavy smut stuff.

When I am around a hot guy, whether I know him or not, I start to salivate big time, his skin feels different, and I get romantic feelings if he smiles or talks or hugs me.

Do I have a sex drive.?.? I'm 23 and a virgin. Health Question & Answer

Simply put...my definition of sex drive is the craving or desire to have sex. If you think about it and/or want to do it then you have a sex drive.Health Question & Answer

These are normal signs of arousal and attraction. You are probably experiencing the feelings now because your body is set in its cycle and your hormones have balanced out due to the pill since low levels of estrogen make it hard to become aroused. This is all completely normal. So, yes, you have a sex drive even if you are not consciously aware of it.

However, if you find yourself acting out of character and taking risks that you wouldn't normally take (such as a one night stand) it's time to talk to your doctor. Health Question & Answer

Congratulations--that is indeed a sex drive. It's an exciting and scary thing, and as long as you keep a good head on your shoulders it can be a lot of fun.

Getting warm, wet, and tingly are all physical signs of arousal, or being horny. Different things turn different people on, but what you describe above sounds like you know what you like (regarding the fanfiction).

Getting turned on around attractive guys is the same sort of thing--your body responding naturally.

My advice is to enjoy these feelings, and not worry about if you're "normal." Different people get turned on different ways and different amounts, and you just have to find out what your body is like. Two pieces of advice:

1. Be careful that these new feelings don't cause you to rush into anything you'll regret. Remember, it's YOUR body, and no matter what it's telling you you have to make the final decision of what to do using your mind and your conscience.

2. This may sound weird, but hear me out....the next time you get really worked up reading fanfiction or something, try masturbating. Yes, your first instinct is probably to think "Eeew! That's only for people who can't get a guy," but to tell the truth most every girl tries it at some point. It will help you get in touch with these new sensations, and also help you learn about your body and what you like. Plus it's pretty darn fun.

Best of luck to you--enjoy this new world, but make sure you make your decisions witha clear head!Health Question & Answer
