It's best not to have sex 24h before the exam. Generally can't tell if you've had sex the night before... unless it was very rough in which case irritation and minor harmless scarring may be evident. But they're not gonna do anything about it. What would they do.? All you say is confidential, besides, you're gyno probably knows you're sexually active.Health Question & Answer

They can tell only if your vagina is inflamed or irritated. But as long as they can get a good smear for your exam they usually don't say anything unless there's a problem. They advise you not to do it only because they need to check your normal discharge and the ph of your cervix. Sex usually causes changes and they aren't able to get a good sample for the tests they do. It's not a big deal though and they can't tell anyone because of the HIPA law.Health Question & Answer

NO they cannot tell, but you should try to avoid have sex within the 24 hour period of seeing your DR. There can be strange readings if they do any tests on you, so its not worth the hassle especially if you have to go back and get re tested. Health Question & Answer

no, they can't tell, and even if they could, they would not "do" anything about it. There's a law regarding doctor patient confidentiality, so if he said anything to anyone but you, you could sue him... he knows this.Health Question & Answer

If you had unprotected sex , yes, she/he can see that .Why .? Even if you washed your vagina , in interior it can remain spermicidal liquid.
