Does this happen to you with your IUD?!

Question: Does this happen to you with your IUD.?
I have the Paragard/copper IUD which was inserted back in January 08. They say you are ALWAYS supposed to feel the strings and not be able to feel the actual "T" in your cervix. I have noticed that I can feel the strings someday and others i dont. Is this normal.? Is my IUD not placed right.? I havent gotten pregnant and things are fine. I also think i can feel it in me sometimes, especially when i am menstruating. I guess the best way i can describe it is like if your tampon was lodged way up there and is stabbing you a bit. I am worried that I am the only one who has this problem. Please help!!! (yes, i know i should go see the doctor, but i dont have the money at this very moment).Health Question & Answer

I had an IUD years ago and did not like it for these very reasons. I could feel it in me and felt stabbing pains when I had my period. I know plenty of people use it without problems, but some of us just can't. I think it is fine, but this might not be the best type of birth control for you. Can you go to a free clinic or one based on income in your area.?Health Question & Answer

I have a mirena, not a paraguard, but i'll tell you what i know.

Sometimes, i can feel the strings immediately. sometimes they sort of get wrapped behind the cervix and you have to search a little. if you can reach your cervix and feel a dimple, the strings should be coming out of that dimple.

i had pain for about 6 months, and i felt like i could feel it, especially when i sat down. i also had ovarian cysts for about that long too. both went away.

the T, incidentally, is in your uterus, not your cervix. if the iud comes through the cervix, it's horribly painful. my friend's boyfriend is an ***, and pulled on the string during some rough play. pulled the iud halfway out, and caused her a nasty infection, and she obviously had to have her iud removed.
