Is this my period...?!

Question: Is this my period....?
My periods are not regular yet, i started my period about 3 years ago.
My last period was on 23rd September

Today i have had a slight bleeding, nothing like a period, I've had the normal discharge and a small amount of bleeding, hardly any though,

What is it....? Is it my period....? I just need to know as i am meant to take my pill on the first day of my period.

I know people just say about going to see a doctor, but if it can be sorted on here, why waste time....?

Thanks to anyone to answers my question...[= Health Question & Answer

Yes, it probably is your period if it's about the right time. Don't worry about the fact that it's hardly any bleeding because if your periods haven't become regular yet, they may be a bit odd.
I have regular periods and still, like this time, have hardly any bleeding sometimes whereas at other times, I can be overflowing! lolHealth Question & Answer

Is this the first ever pack of your pill.? Because if it's not, I have always been told my by g.p. to take it on the day of the week I'm supposed to whether I'm on my period or not.

It could just be spotting, but sometimes periods can be so tiny if you haven't eaten much; hence why anorexics don't have periods (apparently anyway). If this is your first pack of the pill, and if you can wait until next month, start when you definitely know you are on your period. It was about a month ago since your last period so it's quite likely that is it.

And regarding going to see your doctors - can't you phone up and ask to speak to the nurse.?Health Question & Answer

Hi kerry,

It sounds like you started you period. periods can be different month to month, sometimes really heavy and sometimes hardly anything at all. I would take your pill today. I have highly irregular cycles and sometimes there is virtually nothing at all but I take my pill as normal. I hope this helpsHealth Question & Answer

Yes this does sound like a period. There are sometimes when you don't get a lot of blood. There are some periods that I get that there is hardly any thing that shows up. It depends on a variety of different elements such as hormone levels, stress, and other sort of happenings with your body.Health Question & Answer

Yep that's your period. =]Health Question & Answer

First of all, it helps to know how old you are.

If you're under 18, I'd say there's nothing to worry about as such, because most girls start their period between 9 and 18.

Your bleeding that you have now could actually just be your hymen breaking, especially if you've done anything strenuous lately like horse riding or a lot of exercise. I think this could be it because you said the blood is "nothing like a period" and that's generally what the hymen blood is like, kinda unnoticeable compared to menstruating (this does vary, however).

Plus, if you're on the Pill (especially if you're in your teens) that can make you really irregular. It stops you ovulating for crying out loud! My friends are on it and they have totally wacked-out periods, sometimes light or heavy, sometimes not at all. It's not really that good for you, in my opinion.

If you are really worried, I'd just go see your GP and they can either put your mind at ease like I have tried to do, or will refer you to someone else.

Having said all that, some women just don't ever have regular periods, I'm afraid :/ I'm on Mefenamic Acid for mine and that makes them less painful but really sends the pattern out of kilter...so anything can make them irregular, even being over-tired!

Hope this helped!Health Question & Answer
