How effective is the pull-out method as contraception?!

Question: How effective is the pull-out method as contraception.?
I had unprotected sex over the weekend, so I suppose I've missed the cutoff point for Plan B ... my period is due in a few days ... I'm sweating bullets ...

I'm hoping precum doesn't pose THAT much of a risk.

wtf can I do at this point...?

I'm 20 and in college.Health Question & Answer

It is not possible to guess at the one off risk of such an event, as the result is random. However if you look at the statistical risk. A year of unprotected sex has a 60% chance of pregnancy, or a 60% fail rate, depending on how you express the result. Coitus interuptus, the posh name for withdrawal, as a 30% fail rate.

Spot on Rhianna Sweetie, but then some couples like Russian Roulette!Health Question & Answer

It's basically not contraception!

You have essentially had unprotected sex. There is a 30% chance you can get pregnant this way. The odds are not great.

On the plus side. Recent small studies that have been conducted have found pre-ejaculatory fluid does not contain semen, however, some can still be left in the penis if ejaculation took place not long before you had sex. also, IF practised 100% correctly, that means a) the guy pulls out in time b) bothers to pull out at all; the withdrawal method has a 70% success rate, again, this is at best/typical use, which rarely happens!

Either way, this is a very unreliable form of contraception, If you have missed the cut off for the morning after pill, which can be taken up to 72 hours after ( the sooner you take it the better) then you will just have to wait and see if your period comes on, if not, wait till you are 5 days late then do a pregnancy test. Good luck.

(Indeed some couples do Dr Frank...)Health Question & Answer

It's not one of the most effective forms of contraception, but it's more effective than most people think. Under normal conditions, the chances of getting pregnant in one year is 27%, but with perfect use, the chances are only 4% (and that's over a year's time). I know people that use it as their only form of birth control and they've never gotten pregnant, and the times that I've done it, I haven't either. I wouldn't worry about it as long as he pulled out before he came. Good luck!

Health Question & Answer

Its 73%effective when it is used correctly, the problem is, it isn't usually used correctly. It is mostly recommended for married couples who don't want to conceive, but aren't against having any more children. Health Question & Answer

Um precum is the same as regular. One drop is all it takes, which is why pulling out is almost no protection.

Just take a test and hope for the best. I don't get why its so hard for all these people to put on a freaking condom.Health Question & Answer

well the pull out method sucks a guy with little self control can actualy get a little squirt inside you and it could be enough to get you pregnant you should take it one day at a time and if your prego def keep the babyHealth Question & Answer

Whilst waiting to find out if you're pregnant you may also want to check and see if you have an STD. That's what I would be more worried about right now if I was you.Health Question & Answer

a friend of mine used to say there's a word for people who use the withdrawal method....'parents'.
it does not work all the time...you're chances aren't much better than nothing at allHealth Question & Answer

Well as long as you enjoyed it - that's the main thing.Health Question & Answer

At 20 years old and in college, you should know that "pulling out' seldom prevents pregnancy! Good luck Mommy!Health Question & Answer
