Back of earring embedded in ear lobe?!
Question: Back of earring embedded in ear lobe.?
My 12 yr. old step daughter had let her pierced ears close up. She then re-pierced them by jamming post earrings through the still visible hole. That went fine. Now, a month later she comes to me and says I can't feel the back of the earring. We looked and the back was INSIDE her ear lobe. We told her that we would have to take her to a Dr. and have it taken out (involving shots and cutting her ear open). She went in the bathroom and got the back out on her own...taking a fair share of tissue with it. My question is: How in the world could it be INSIDE the lobe.? She swears she turned them every day, but I'm doubtful. Any insight appreciated.

That's a question for your daughter. The holes in the lobe are not large enough to fit an earring back in there without force.Health Question & Answer
how could have that happened.?! the hole is not large enough for an earring back to go through there. maybe she didn't clean it 2-3 times a day and rotate it or she maybe made it irritated. i had my cartilage pierced about 2 weeks ago and went through the same thing your step daughter went through, except i didn't let the hole close. i took the ones they pierced me with out (they used a bigger post), cleaned my ears very well again and put neosporin on the post, and put the different ones in that were smaller. about 4 days later, the swelling went down and now i have room between my ear and the back.
