I was born a boy but ive been a girl since i was 1 due to botched circumcision. should i have final surgery?!

Question: I was born a boy but ive been a girl since i was 1 due to botched circumcision. should i have final surgery.?
when i was 10 months old my circumcision was botched majorly, and the only option was to amputate the remains of my penis and construct a vagina, turning me into a girl. im 17 now, loving life, wanting to stay a woman for the rest of my life, and im considering having final surgery to complete my vagina - to make it look more closely resembled to a person born as a girl naturally. do you think i should, and if so, is the time right.? i know this question is very weird but its all true, i just want to know what the best move would be. thanksHealth Question & Answer

You're the only one who can make this choice. It's your decision, and yours only that matters. But it were me...

I think 17 is pretty young to be making this decision. I'd wait until you're a bit older just to be sure. also, it's probably better to be 100% sure that your body is done growing or developing before doing any kind of surgery.Health Question & Answer

I don't think anyone can answer this for you. It's a decision you have to make for yourself. It sounds like you want to go through with it, so I think that eventually you should, but you're still in school, so you'll want to look at recovery times etc., maybe it's something to do over the summer. I know people say things like "oh don't do something you'll regret when you're so young", but you've lived your whole life like this, and you don't seem like you have any doubts. Why do you need the approval of perfect strangers.? You seem to ask this question every week. Obviously, you are looking for answers in the wrong places hon. This decision is too important to be indecisive about, you need to be strong enough mentally to make this decision before proceeding. Since you are young, seeing a therapist is one option. Another would be to locate and join a support group that deals with LGBT persons to help guide you in your decision. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

sure. Go for it. You are living as a girl and happy. I assume then, that you are attracted to males so yes, having a vagina will be an asset. You will have to go through a battery of emotional testing before they complete your surgery. That will ensure it is what you want. Health Question & Answer

Go to websites and look into the surgery so you know exactly what is involved, what pain would occur etc to help you decide. If you read all the facts about it and still want it then go for it if it makes you feel whole. Health Question & Answer

Do whatever you feel like...I would consult a plastic surgeon on your options, whichever way you choose.Health Question & Answer

I'm sorry that you've have to go through this and impressed that you're handling it so well.

Honestly at this moment I would have to say no and I'm pretty sure your doctor will say the same. 17 is a very impressionable time and although you might feel out of place at the moment your feelings may change in the future. I don't think you have the perspective at the moment to make such a decision.

Due to hormones and peer pressure I think that giving you more time and maybe counseling would help. I understand that it was 'easier' for your parents to raise you as a girl and that you've accepted it but I cannot agree that was the right course. In the future you might wonder what you lost living as a girl or you may have second thoughts about being a woman at all. You are not a woman and this has nothing to do with religion or right or wrong...it has to do with a person and who that person was born to be.

Discuss with this your parents and maybe a counselor and go from there.Health Question & Answer

I can only imagine the pain your going through. But yes I would go through with the operation. You must understand that you will never be able to have kids. And at least you can feel more like a woman. Now dont forget you will have to take supplements to grow breast also. Or have constructive surgery to add them. This will make you look more like a woman but you need psychological help to deal with other issues also. Such as you may not be able to orgasm. Done properly you can have a great feeling but you will always need additional lube. It sounds like you are living as a woman now so it should not be too difficult. Good Luck!!Health Question & Answer

You kiddin me right ....!!! you telling all us yahoo users - that your parents knowingly after the circumcision went wrong decided to make a son born to them a girl and ...welll

I hope this is not some sick joke or question just to get a reaction -

Anyways in my humble opinion -- to go under any knife(surgery) - always have a second opinion with another physician, see a counselor or a shrink (not coz you are crazy) but to see what are some of the things in your head that you will have battle or are conflicting. Speak to some people that have already gone thru such operations. If you do not know anyone ... get it from the doctors office who will conduct these operations... There are sites too

We the rst of the people from society battle each day of our life to find things that make us happy/satisfied or sometthing or someone that would make us completle .....My best to you ... what ever makes you happy and complete. Health Question & Answer

Before you do ANYTHING, make sure you have enough money (save like crazy if you have to) to use a well respected surgeon, with excellent references and a 100% track record. You don't want another botched surgery!!!! Check with your family doctor for reputable surgeons.
Then...make 3 appointments with potential surgeons. Take your mom or a trusted friend with you who loves you and cares about your life to help you sort out the information and guide you to make a solid decision. (Ultimately, however, the decision should be yours!!!! ) In the interview, the surgeon should be able to help you weigh out your options , telling you the pros and cons of the operation. Through reliable references and responsible resources such as articles and medical journals, magazines and other media, you should be able to get a good sense of how well established and reputable he or she is. Do not use internet surgeons offering cheap deals. I cannot stress how important it is to DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST!!! Good luck!!!! Health Question & Answer
