Do you think this is normal..?!

Question: Do you think this is normal...?
i'm a teenage girl. go to high school. i was in history the other day and we were watching a disgusting film loads of blood and stuff. i told the teacher i felt faint and she told me to get some fresh air outside (was in a mobile). she followed me out and was talking to me but couldn't listen as i felt too faint. then i heard her say 'are you with me.?' and then i passed out. when i woke up didn't realise what happened at first then i heard someone say 'get someone from the office - tell them someones passed out). and then the teacher left me with the student teacher until someone from Office came and carried me to reception. i sat there for a while then carried on with lessons. is it normal to pass out over blood.? did the teachers deal with it right.?Health Question & Answer

It is normal if you were in a stuffy mobile. If you are a bit woozy about blood and gore that is normal also, the teachers did the best that they could, and you carried on with lessons.Health Question & Answer

Yes, everyone's limits are different. I think the teacher should have escorted/half carried you to the office themself personally.Health Question & Answer

It's normal for some people, who may be extra sensitive.

The teacher did all the right things... she excused you, she accompanied you, and she called for help.Health Question & Answer

Many people are upset with the sight of blood and other gory images, yes she handled the situation fineHealth Question & Answer

Passing out: abnormal for country folk. Normal for town wussies.

Teacher did right.Health Question & Answer

Perfectly normal. Ive passed out twice when ive had to have injections. I hate needles.Health Question & Answer

Yes, it is normal for someone to pass out over the sight of blood if you are weak to it.

I think the teacher probably did what she/he thought was best at the time. The teacher should have probably never left you and carried you to the office themself, however, if this was this teachers first experience with someone fainting, then you most likely scared the teacher as much as you scared yourself!!!

The only thing I am concerned with is that the school should have sent you home with your parents or to the doctor to be checked out just incase your passing out was from some other issue going on within you! Health Question & Answer

It's perfectly all right to be squeamish over the sight of blood. It may not be cool to pass out in front of all your friends, but sometimes that's what happens.

I'm pretty squeamish about blood myself. Seeing it in movies or on tv means nothing, because it's not real, that never bothered me. BUT.... the very first time I gave blood to the Red Cross, I nearly FREAKED OUT!! I knew seeing that brick red color going thru the little tube was my OWN BLOOD!! (silent scream!!) That nearly panicked me. But since my blood wasn't squirting all over, I calmed down and got used to it. it's still kinda weird to see my own blood.

I don't know how EMT or doctors and nurses do their job. They've got pretty strong stomachs and guts of iron to do their job, what with seeing all kinds of bad accidents and people mangled up. It's not just blood all around, but seeing the insides of people, too. That freaks me out, too. And I'm a 57 yr "old fart"!! I still can't think of a doctor sticking his hands inside me during an operation.

I hope that after you woke up, they took you to the school nurse. If they didn't, they probably broke some kind of law!! You should have been given medical assistance as soon as possible to make sure you were okay and didn't continue to be nearly faint. I used to work at a middle school, and they took that kind of stuff very seriously. I hope your school took you seriously.

But apparently, you're okay because you're writing this question.
The only thing I know to help you get used to seeing blood is to see more of it. Not in scary movies, but helping out somewhere in a clinic or something. Maybe even giving blood yourself, as you see your own blood going thru the tiny tube, you might get used to seeing it and feel easier about it all.Health Question & Answer
