Question: What do you do when you can't continue taking the Yasmin pill after taking it for 6 days.?
My girlfriend has been on the 3 week Yasmin pill for many months now. Today, she left for a 10 day vacation, forgetting to bring the rest of the pack of pills, and there are no pills available where she's going. She started a new pack of pills 6 days ago, on sunday, and wont be able to finish the rest of the pack because she doesn't have it with her. What should she do.?
Should she just throw away the pack when she gets home and start a new one.? When should she start the new one, the first sunday that she gets back, or the sunday when she should have started a new pack had she not forgotten to bring the old pack.?
also, we had sex the night before she left but she took the pill that night. She did not however take the pill the following night as she was already on vacation. Is it possible that she could get pregnant, given than she did not continue the pill.? I believe that the sperm would have died by the time the pill wears off given that the hormones would still be in her system for another day or two, but I'm not sure. every pill is designed to work for 36 hours, so it is unlikly that she is pregnant. however, after 10 days with no pills, unfortuantly she IS going to have to start a new pack when she gets back. if she is a sunday start gal, then yes, the sunday after she gets back. this also means that her period will be off schedule. it may be late, early, or never show up. dont freak out about it. wait 4 weeks after she comes back to take a pregnancy test to be sure, but she probably isnt. and let me just say, that you are such a sweet and caring boyfriend. kudos for you =)Health Question & Answer
