What are the odds of getting multiples if you're taking something like Clomid.?Health Question & Answer

Hi

I am suffering from PCOS and trying to conceive. I have a great gynaecologist who is with me every step of the way.

Firstly PCOS is an underlying disease caused by Syndrome X. Syndrome X is an insulin resistance and one of the problems of it being polysistic ovaries and irregular or no ovulation. I will suggest that you get tested for Syndrome X. Syndrome X can be treated/reversed by using Glucophage, 45 mins of cardio excersize 4 times a week as well as following a healthy low GI diet.

The none ovulation gets treated by Clomid or something similar used from days 4 - 8 of your menstrual cycle. On day 11 the gynaecologist does a interal sonar to see whether a follicle or maybe a few follicles were formed. If there is one or 2 healthy follicles and you are happy with the chance of maybe having twins then the gynae gives you a shot and 36 hours thereafter you ovulate and then it is time to hop on the good foot and do the bad thing. If however there are a lot of follicles or some sists your gynae should advise you about it and the risks involved.

There is thus a great chance of multiples if you use it and not let your gynae perform a sonar to see how many follicles were produced.

I however also know people who managed to conceive and have been blessed with lovely children - so hang in there and good luck.

My aunt had this, she was trying to get pregnant like 7+ years, and finally did on her second try of IVF. She had a normal pregnancy as well.
Sorry if that didn't help. =]Health Question & Answer
