If I have to take medicine to clear a bladder infection can I still breastfeed my baby?!

Question: If I have to take medicine to clear a bladder infection can I still breastfeed my baby.?
I'm not even sure yet if I have an infection yet, but something doesn't seem right and I'm going to the DR. I'm just concerned I'll have to take something and won't be able to breastfeed my one week old anymore.Health Question & Answer

Yeh I had mastitis (sp..?) early on when I was breastfeeding and had antibiotics that were considered safe to use while breastfeeding. Went on to feed for another 12 months :D Hope you're feeling better soon!Health Question & Answer

Congratulations! There are a lot of antibiotics that you can take while you are breast feeding. Let your doc know and they'll get you something appropriate. If for some reason you need to take one that you can't breast feed with, you can pump and throw out the milk while you take it, then start feeding again when your infection is all cleared up.
Health Question & Answer

Im really not sure, you'll have to ask your doctor.
If you're worried about it, you can start pumping now, to get a good enough supply to last until you can safely feed again.

Congrats on your baby:)Health Question & Answer

Tell the doctor you are breastfeeding and they will prescribe you something that is safe to take. Most antibiotics are only given over 3 days and are safe for breastfeeding. Health Question & Answer
