Yes sweetie, it sounds like it's the start of your period. The reason for the brownish color is the blood is a little old. It's bright red when you first start bleeding, it could have come out slowly which has caused it to be brownish. You really need to talk to your mom and let her know. Health Question & Answer

In all likelihood, yeah, that is your first period. As much as you may be embarrassed to tell your mom, it's a good idea to tell her. She can buy you pads, tampons, panty liners, etc.
It's also a good idea to tell her so she doesn't ask questions ( say, if she does your laundry and finds blood on your underwear, she'll be a taaad bit curious ).
If you're really, REALLY embarrassed to tell your mom, tell another trusted female adult, maybe an older sister or a school nurse. I'm not sure how many schools have nurses anymore, but it's still worth a shot.Health Question & Answer

That is exactly what it is. Although very faint and irregular in the first stages you are seeing the beginning of what will eventually be a monthly thing. It can feel very icky and awkward and fascinating at the same time first, but you will learn to be proud of your womanhood one day.
If you haven't already done so start educationg yourself about your monthly friend. My number one suggestion is to get yourself a small calendar and keep track of what day you start so you don't have any surprises at school or with your friends the following month when it is time for your period again. You also need to eventually tell mom so you all can go and get your pads or tampons. Although I am still in my 20's and my daughters have a long way to go (thank God) until we have this talk, don't under estimate us moms. We are not that bad...Health Question & Answer

Aww honey, you're s woman now =) Just write down the date it started, in your journal or something. Get $10 bucks and go to the store, buy a pack of Always pads, and wear them. Don't flush them, when the pad is full enough, peel it off your undies, roll it in toilet paper and throw it in the trash.
Periods last anywhere from 5-7 days, pain in your lower tummy is just cramping-nothing serious.
But remember each month, around that time, carry a pad with you just incase.

hey girl.. yeah i definitely think thats your first period. im 15 and when i first got mine it didn't even look like blood.. it just looked like brown..kinda like what your describing. just go up to your mom and say mom i think i just got my period.. do you have something i can use. [like a pad] and she'll probably be really cool about it and just give you one. i know its kind or embarrassing at first.. but don't worry about it.. all women get it and its totally natural.. GOOD LUCK and congrats! =]Health Question & Answer

Sounds like a first period to me. I was 10 when I got mine. I woke up one morning with what you're describing that is in the crotch of your panties. I thought I pooped on myself. lol! You do need to tell your mom. You will need some pads and/ or tampons. Your mom might get suspicious if her pads get missing. What she uses might not be what you need. You will have to shop around to find the best feminine protection that is right for you. There is a really cool website that you can get a lot of period information and chat with other girls your age going through the same thing. You can also get samples and coupons on this website too. Here is the website: http://www.beinggirl.com/en_US/home.jsp Hope this helps you out. Congratulations on getting your period. It is a sign that you're entering into womanhood.Health Question & Answer

if it just happened once, probably not, but if it's continues, like you change your undies and a couple hours later it's still there, then yes. but if not then its probably just a medical thing and u should get checked.

why cant you ask your mom.?Health Question & Answer

Yea this is your first period. You really should tell your mom or another adult you trust. If you don't feel comfortable telling someone, you can write a note or show them what you wrote on here. Hope this helps and good luck.Health Question & Answer

Yep, I would say so! Now, have you talked with your mom about protection -pads and pantiliners, etc.? And, you should talk to her, hey it happens to her too, you know. Congratulations, by the way!Health Question & Answer

Yes this is your first period. I would now start wearing pads. If you are that nervous about talking to your mom then write her a note or email her or even text her. I hope I helped. Have a happy period.
