What can I take before my paragard insertion? And what about for the painful periods that will follow?!

Question: What can I take before my paragard insertion.? And what about for the painful periods that will follow.?
I'm gettin paragard in a few days and I'm really worried about the pain.

My doctor says they don't usually numb your cervix unless they have trouble getting it in. Is this true.? I think I'd like to be numbed.

Is there anything I can take before the procedure to make it less uncomfortable.?

And what about after when I'm having painful and heavy periods.? Is there anything more powerful than aleve or other NSAIDs.? I take aleve now and it works but I'm worried it won't be enough after the paragard is in place!

Thanks!Health Question & Answer

I had vicodin left over form an oral surgery when I had my paragard put it, so I took that before the insertion and it was still uncomfortable, but not painful, I have already had a baby though, if you have too, don't worry so much, it really isn't that bad and only lasts for a few minutes and it's totally worth it. Though the cramps I had afterwards were worse than the insertion, those were pretty strong for the first couple of days and then sometimes hit randomly after that but were not as strong. I didn't even try the NSAIDS for it as, like I said, I was taking the Vicodin and that worked like a freaking charm anyway, but the NSAIDS should be good enough. Here is an IUD website I like to go to, it has a lot of insertion and personal experience stories, I give it to everyone and if you have asked an IUD question on here before, I may have already given it to you but here it is anyway, I have always found it very helpfulhttp://community.livejournal.com/iud_div...
Don't worry about the insertion too much, I was really really nervous before mine and it turned out to be prett unnecessary. It might hurt but it won't kill you, I got a little faint after mine though, but nothing serious, you may want to have someone drive you home and take the day off work or school or whatevre incase you feel the need to aly around all day long afterwards.Health Question & Answer
