how long does it take to be effective against pregnancy.? i had unprotected sex and my partner felt the ring and didn't know he probably should have pulled out and i didn't realize until he asked me later on.? is my nuvaring working by now.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Your nuvaring is most likely working effectively now!!

If this is your first hormonal birth control (i.e. you were not on the pill or patch) you should insert the Nuva Ring within the first 5 days of your period. If it is inserted on the first day, it will be immediately effective against birth control. If it is inserted during days 2-5, you should use another form of birth control (like a male condom or spermicide) for the first 7 days.

Health Question & Answer

For starters you wear the ring you don't take it. I don't think your partner is able to feel the ring. It's all in his mind. I think both of you are just nervous about having an object inside of you, and that's normal. Whatever you do, don't take the ring out during or just after sex. Sperm is still active and may cause pregnancy. Talk to your doctor.Health Question & Answer

It takes about 7 days for it to go into effect, so you technically should be protected. Re-read through the pamphlet it came with (I know it's a lot of reading) just to make sure though.Health Question & Answer

you should always wait a month with any b/c. your doctor may even tell you 3 months. Condoms work too. Health Question & Answer
