Is there an alternative to mammograms?!
Question: Is there an alternative to mammograms.?
The one and only mammogram I had (3 years ago at least) left me in so much pain for many months after. I'm terrified to get another one. My Doctor offers me no alternative. I was wondering if anyone knows of anything else I can do.Health Question & Answer

3)Blood Test (Not a good screening test)
4)None of the Above, or, Doing Nothing
Although uncomfortable, mammograms are the best option. also consider that these other methods are more expensive and may not be covered by your insurance plan.
As a note, MRI's are more accurate than mammograms.

You can have breast MRI or if a facility available get a test called as PEM ( positron emission mammogram) PEM is relatively new and only few centers are doing now in USA. MRI is painless and good.

Sometimes they can perform an ultrasound type procedure, but it is not as affective as a mammogram. Health Question & Answer
