If this is your first time inserting a tampon, it may hurt, depending if you've broken your hymen or not (aka, you had sex, or rough activity can break it too). The best way to deal with that is to insert it standing, with your foot up on the toilet seat.

One thing that also might help is to buy slim tampons. These are for girls and teens who aren't used to wearing tampons, and they are smaller, but offer similar protection.

good luck!Health Question & Answer

They can hurt if you do not insert them properly or use one which is too big in comparison to the flow. Use the smallest one possible in relativity to how heavy you are bleeding. Make sure you relax as you insert it and remember they aren't for everyone.
The string can break but the tampon itself cannot go anywhere once it is inside you. If you can't get it out yourself then go to the doctors who will remove it for you.Health Question & Answer

Don't hurt unless you don't put them in far enough and they sit pushing against the muscles (same muscles that hold them in there). String very unlikely to come out or break, never happened to me in 15+ years. Won't get stuck but sometimes a bit hard coming out if its not been used much. Practice makes perfect - just concentrate on breathing and relaxing your muscles when you put it in.Health Question & Answer

no they shouldnt hurt and they do not stretch you out. properly used you should not feel them at all. it can be a bit awkward at first, but not painful. i have never heard of a string breaking, and rarely they get stuck. the biggest thing to remember is to relax,,,if you are tense it can cause you to "tighten" up and be difficult to insert or remove.Health Question & Answer

Tampons do not hurt if used correctly. The string could break but the chances of that happening are slim. Are you young.? I have had two children and i find that the tampax pearl hurts slightly when removing. But that is just after having children. I like playtex or the original tampax. They do not stretch you vagina. Health Question & Answer

Not at all but you must use the correct size dependent on your blood flow. Look on the box and you will see light flow, medium flow, heavy flow. I have used them for many many years and the string has never broke for me. Just tug it before use to make sure its secure. Can they get stuck, yes, but if you make sure you do the above you wont have a problem.Health Question & Answer

they dont hurt as bad as you may think on a scale of 1-10 id say its a 2 (being the lowest) on the pain scale and 10 being "oh my god i cut my hand off!" pain. the string cannot break, its strong. it cant get stuck because the walls of your vagina are lined with muscles and if it does by miracle get stuck then you just push. never had it happened but thats what i would guess you do. what else could you possibly do.?Health Question & Answer

Hi, I have never used one .. But my friends do and they say they are fine and easy to use i wouldn't say it hurt if you are a virgin it might be easier to loose that first before it, but if not i don't think it would be too bad. x Sorry i wasn't much help x Good Luck with it =] xxHealth Question & Answer

no they don't hurt and they don't stretch the vagina.
ive never had the string break and no one i know has ever had that happened so there is probably a VERY LOW chance of that ever happeningHealth Question & Answer

It doesnt hurt if it is in right.
And no, It doesnt stretch.
It is VERRRRRYYY rare that it would break.
But if it did, all you would have to do is stick ur finger in and pull it out :)Health Question & Answer

No they don't hurt unless you dont put them in right. The string can break but its very rare but its more likely the string getting stuck up there. If it does just put your two fingers up and find it or pull the tampon itself downHealth Question & Answer

NO THEY DO NOT HURT UNLESS YOU DONT PUT IT IN RIGHT AND IT DOES NOT STRETCH IT I'VE NEVER HAD ONE BREAK ON ME BUT IT MIGHT IM NOT SURE...
