What should I expect the first time I go to the gynecologist?!
Question: What should I expect the first time I go to the gynecologist.?
I feel terribly about it, but I'm 22 and I've never been to the gynecologist. I'm sexually active (I've been with 5 different partners, but I ALWAYS use a condom during intercourse). I'm not sure what to expect the first time I go. What type of tests do they do.? I don't think I have any STDs but I know i should get tested for that as well. I just really have no idea what to expect and I'm really nervous.Health Question & Answer

Just relax its not as bad as you think! First they will ask as all sorts of questions about your helath, for example your last period, family medical history etc.. Then they have you undress and the Dr will do a pap smear to check for the cervical cancer. He or she will also feel your breasts for any abnormal lumps or masses (not painful). He will also insert his index finger to feel inside your uterus, again just feeling for masses or lumps. The whole examination should not take more than a few minutes.
