Dull pain in lower left abdomen?!

Question: Dull pain in lower left abdomen.?
For about 2 months now I occasionally get this very very dull pain/cramp in my lower left abdomen...I would describe it as my left ovary, lol. You know when you run after you haven't ran for a while and you get a cramp in your belly.? That's kind of what it's like except even more dull. I can only feel it when moving around, etc. It goes away for a while--then comes back. It seems to be only around the time of my period (week before and during this time) I am ending my period today and my periods are pretty regular. I missed my period in July due to stress from moving across the country! But before that (for the past 4 yrs) and after that it's come on time. I was on birth control for 4 yrs until Feb 08. I stopped taking it until August 08. So I've been on it a few months again now. Anyways...The pain seems to diminish when I pass gas...Sorry, TMI! I do tend to pass gas a lot because of the foods I eat and I was chewing gum almost all day long. I have stopped chewing gum and eating certain foods and my gas has gone away mostly, lol. I have an appointment at the gyno on Friday for a regular PAP. What do you guys think about this.? If you have any more questions, ask them and I will check here and answer for you...Please let me know what you think this could be.? Cysts.? (No history of any cysts or cancers in my family--Mother & great aunt had endometriosis later in life).

TMI answer for TMI question... I have a similar feeling during the time of my period. What happens to me is I tend to get, er... constipated and experience a similar pain. My theory is that the cramps that are tormenting my uterus are also freezing up the rest of my abdomen. Your comment about gas is what makes me think it might be something similar. Mention it to your doctor when you go, I guess, s/he can eliminate anything serious concerning cysts or the like. Health Question & Answer

I get them to hear an there. I think mine are mostly from ovulating. It almost feels like a period cramp. But just to be safe check with your doctor. My good friend Jessica used to get pains there too and found out she had cyst on her ovaries but nothing cancerous though. Im sure its nothing serious. Better safe then sorry. Just another problem us woman have with our wonderful bodies.Health Question & Answer

It's just gas - I get the same thing every so often, and it's a real pain, isn't it.?! :-) It's also in the lower abdomen, like it's tucked under the pelvic bone, kinda makes me go "yowza" when i move - but then when I, er, "eliminate some gas", it goes away *lol*.

Don't worry. You only need to worry if you have severe cramping, bleeding, etc - that's when you need to see a Dr., etc.

Happy farting! :-)Health Question & Answer

My first thought was ovulation, but it happens while you have your period. So, you might be right about the gas. If you think it might be from your food, try taking something like GasX after you eat. It makes bubbles pop, so gas does not get trapped in your belly. It's very safe, because the ingredient in it does not get absorbed in the body.

Definitely ask the gynecologist about it when you're there in case it might be a symptom of something serious. Health Question & Answer
