How long does the affects of the pill stay in your body?!

Question: How long does the affects of the pill stay in your body.?
I asked this question yesterday but didn't provide enough detail so I wanted to ask again hoping to get some more informed responses.

I started taking ortho tricyclen lo in June of 2007. I got off the pill in May of 2008. I missed a period the next month due to getting off the pill so my next cycle started in July. From July until this month (October) my cycle has been at 29 days every month. This is a normal cycle for me off the pill.

I am now at day 32 in my cycle which never happens, could the pill still be having an effect on my body 5 months later even though I have been regular the past 4 months.?

Is it common that I would be regular for 4 months and then irregular all of a sudden.?

I did take a pregnancy test already, it was negative. But thinking about that now, I did drink alot of water before I took the test on Monday when I was 1 day late. I took it in the evening and I had to force myself to pee. Can this make a difference on my test result.? Will the water dilute my urine.?

I have also had cramps for the past 3 days like I was about to start but nothing happens. I have a lower achy back but no sore boobs. I know cramps and backaches are also from menstruation about to start.

I have been successfully using the withdrawal method with the same man for 2 years. Health Question & Answer

Ehhhh It could still have effects on your body...But if your period was normal for a couple months it doesn't make sense why it would all of a sudden go crazy. If you're stressing about it...you could be pushing it further away lol. I'd take another pregnancy test first thing in the morning tomorrow. Before you drink anything. Health Question & Answer

There is no chance that the pill is still affecting your cycle in any way. More than likely that while a 29 day cycle is "normal" for you, as you age your cycles can get longer, shorter, or irregular. Normal is a cycle that is between 24 and 35 days; and not every woman will always have an infallibly perfect cycle.

If you're concerned DO see your doctor.

And take another test. While the tests say they can be used any time of day, for best results ALWAYS use first-morning urine (which IF you're pregnant will have the highest concentration of hCG, which is what the test is looking for).Health Question & Answer
