Question: I have a *girls* only question!.?
I want to know when the average girl gets her first period. I first got the talk at school when I was nine, so I really didn't expect to have it till I was thirteen or so.
Now I am thirteen, and every girl in my grade got theirs last year... but me. I have four sisters who all got theirs around 11-13 and my cousin is ten and already got hers!
I just don't know when to expect to get mine!

It seems most girls do start around 12 or 13 but the age range is usually from 9 all the way up to 16 years old. I got mine when I was 13. Don't worry too much, you're normal. I know three years is a long time away but if by age 16 you haven't gotten your period then you would get your mom to schedule an appt with a gynecologist to see what's going on. But for now if you're really worried about getting it at a bad time, asks your sisters if you can have a couple of their pads to carry in your purse then that way if it happens you are ready. Luckily I was at home when I started but I wish someone had prepared me a little more before I started my period. I got mine when I was 12. I do know a couple of girls I went to school with that didn't get theirs till they were 17. Everyone is different. Worrying and stressing about it won't do you any good. You'll get it when your body is ready. Don't worry. 13 is still young. Some girls dont get it until 16, sometimes even later!

I know I'm a guy but that's totally normal. You can be up to 16 before you get it, and that's totally up to the hormones in your body nothing you can change.
