I'm a worrier on the pill and...?!

Question: I'm a worrier on the pill and....?
First of all, let me say that I admit I'm a natural worrier.

I am on the pill (Alesse) and have been on it for seven months now. I have never missed a pill yet, although about a week ago I did take one twenty minutes late by accident (I don't think I've had sex since then though). My boyfriend and I also use condoms every time.

This week is my pill-free week, and I always get my period Wednesday during the day. But I haven't gotten it yet and it's Wednesday night.? My question is, is it normal for your period to come on different days of the pill-free week when you've been on the pill for as long as I have.? It's always come on Wed. afternoons and still nothing...

I don't think I have any pregnancy symptoms, my breasts are a little tender and I am tired but those could be from other causes. Any advice.?Health Question & Answer

Honestly, try not to worry too much at this point. Your chances of being pregnant are probably 1%...especially since you use condoms (but don't get me wrong...I know EXACTLY how you worried you are because I'm the same way as you with these things and am always extra cautious).

Your period no matter if you are on the pill or not will sometimes be a bit irregular. Just because you've gotten it on a Wed during the day every single other time doesn't mean that this time the exact same thing will happen. It might not even come until you start your active pills in your first week on your next pack. Worrying will delay your period, so try not to worry. If worst comes to worst, try taking a hpt in the next 2-3 weeks if you still don't get it. Sometimes the pill can screw some things up (and trust me, they get even more screwed up when you come off of it!). The pill can also give you pregnancy symptoms when you really are not pregnant. I know how hard it is to not think about it, but try that and carry on with normal routine things. I have a good feeling that you are not pregnant by any means.Health Question & Answer

i've been on birth control for that long also. but mine has come a day early, a day late, and different times during the day. mine comes when i wake up usually on tuesday. but sometimes its later throughout the day. so i wouldn't worry about it. good luck :)

oh and also, worrying may delay your period, so don't think about it.Health Question & Answer

Hmm that's really strange the exact same thing happened to me a few days ago. I'm a lot like you, a worrier who's super cautious. I was so worried when it didn't happen and it always happens on the same day almost at the same time. It was about a day and a half late but it did come. Health Question & Answer

20 minutes late is highly unlikely to make a difference to your cycle or increase you risk of pregnancy. It is not unusual for periods to be a few days late or not even show up at all while you're on the pill. I always finish up the hormone pills on a saturday and my period will show up anytime between the next Wednesday and Sunday. Or not at all. It's normal, so don't fret too much. If it doesn't show up in a week or two and you're still worried, then take a home pregnancy test and see. Health Question & Answer
