Late Period or something wrong?!

Question: Late Period or something wrong.?
Hi there, I have got a strange question to ask people in the unknown cyber-world as i am too embarassed to go to a doctor,
Im 20 years old and I think, well im begining to wonder, if i have something wrong with my menstrual cycle.

I first started my periods when I was 15, I had one and then I didnt have another one again for about 8 months. I was told this was normal for slim young girls, so I thought nothing of it.

Then when i was 17 I got my periods every month because I was on 'the pill' to help my teenage skin (as pescribed by a doctor). When I came off the pill, whilst still 17, I had periods every month for about 5 months but then they just stopped again and came only once every 3 months

At the time I was not bothered as I hated being on, so it didnt effect me. I now only have a period once every 3 to four months.

But now i'm twenty and I had my last period in June and it's now October it's the longest my body has been in between.

Shall I carry on being happy and not having to go through periods every month.? Or is there something more to this.? Will it effect me having children in later life or does this just happen to some women.?

Im a healthy 10 stone and 5'7. I eat a healthy diet, im not really an excercise person but i dont walk every where and go to badminton once a week. What do you think I should do and is this normal.? Health Question & Answer

hey irregular periods could indicate polysystic ovaries. Go get urself checked out by a doctor as this happened to me. when i was 16 my periods came about 2 times a year i went on the pill and they became regular. i then stopped when i was 19 to plan 4 a child it took 4 years until i got pregnant. " years later i got pregnant again and its only after that i had complications after giving birth to my son that they realised i had polysistic ovaries and they were astonished that i had had 2 children. i have now been trying again for 3 years with no sucess. I get a period once a year if im lucky. Get urself checked just to be on the safe side.Health Question & Answer

go to doctor plHealth Question & Answer

It doesnt sound that bad. Its not just teenagers that suffer with irregular periods. It is a condition that can affect many adult women too. Don't forget you are still young and can continue developing into your early 20's - it might settle down. If i were you i would go to the doctor to make sure you dont have any imbalanced hormones because that can cause that. Another possibility is pregnancy, however you didnt mention anything about that but are you sexually active.? Your obviously old enough to know that sex = babies so im going to take that one as a no =). Irregular periods wont decrease your chance of having children. the chances are that you will struggle to conceive but doctors can help with that. I think you should see your doctor. i know you might find it embarrassing but you forget that they see this every single day. Been there! its not so bad when you get in there. =)
