Question: Please help!! a few questions about birth control pills, generally how do they work.?
A few questions about birth control pills, generally how do they work.?
I have a few questions about them. I'm on Marvelon 28s (combination), and am on my eighth pack of pills. How do birth control pills protect me from pregnancy.? And i know that you're still covered on the inactive (break) pills, but how are you still protected when you're on the first row of active pills in your pack.? Would that mean the hormones would have to be strong enough to protect you for two whole weeks.? Because i've heard it takes seven days of active pills in order to stop ovulation, but the inactive pills are there for a break (and you're still protected from pregnancy then), then there's a whole new row of active pills... would you still be protected in that first row (for as long as i was on the pills, not first time users).? Or would you need to have a back up method.? Basically, are you covered (after three months of continuous pill use) from pregnancy any time during the pills.? also, does cold FX (a cold and flu medicine) effect birth control pills.? And the very last question...
I take my pills at 10:00 pm (at night) and a had..... diarrhea (...let's be mature) at 2:30 pm (the next day). I heard it's okay as long as you don't vomit or have diarrhea under four hours after the pill. Then again i heard other stuff

would i be pooping out my pills.? Or would the medicine be already in my system.?Yes, i know birth control pills are not 100% effective and all that jazz, i don't care, and don't need to hear that... i also don't need rude answers or one liners.

Thanks ahead of time, sorry for the boatload of questions :)

Ok. I am going to split your questions up so I can answer them separately and not miss any. Here I go:

Generally how do they work.? & How do birth control pills protect me from pregnancy.?

The pill works mainly by changing the body's hormones so that you do not ovulate (release and egg). It tricks the body into thinking it has already ovulated when it has not. It also thickens the mucus of the cervix making it harder for the sperm to get to the egg and makes the lining of the womb to thin for the egg to implant on the womb to start growing.

The pill covers you all month long. The body does not have enough time to prepare itself to get pregnant in the week of non-active pills. So the pills do not have to be extra strong to
