Is it safe being on the "Pill" 24/7, 365?!

Question: Is it safe being on the "Pill" 24/7, 365.?
A question from my female friend. She has been on the "Pill" for many years, basically taking it everyday to balance her hormones. Under prescription and regulation by the women's doctor.

a) Is this actually safe in the long-run.?
b) Is there any chance she can get pregnant accidentally during this therapy.?
c) Is this a sign she can't get pregnant in the future.?

Thanks for your kind and considerate repliesHealth Question & Answer

Answers:
You're supposed to take the Pill 24/7-365. That's how it works.
a). Yes the pill is safe, unless there's side effects and the doctor will usually take you off it it before you do harm to your body.
b). Yes, you can get pregnant while on the pill. The pill's only 99% effective. There's still the 1% that could happen, although very rare. If she doesn't wanna get pregnant, suggest that she uses other protection to be completely safe.
c). People that have been on the pill for very long periods of time still had kids. If she can't get pregnant in the future, it's something with her body preventing her. It's not gonna be just because of extended use of the pill.Health Question & Answer

I was on the same birth control for 6 years, after the first year I had it down to were I took it without forgetting.

And lo and behold, year six I got pregnant with my first child. lol

But yes, for most women, it is perfectly safe, and yes apparently you can get pregnant, and no, I haven't heard of anyone not being able to conceive, although I have heard the longer you are on, once you stop taking the pill, it does take longer for some to conceive.Health Question & Answer

I'm a Pharmacist and would never allow any female in my family to take any birth control meds. The dangers far out weigh the benefits. There are other means to balance hormones. Her Dr took the easiest and fastest route. Tell her to go to a Dr that cares about her health instead of his/her bank balance. Health Question & Answer

they wouldnt prescribe it for such a long peiod of time if it was bad for you, yes she can get pregnant the pill is only 99% acurate, it also doesnt protect you from sti's or std's at all. they reccomend it to all women, so chances are she can still get pregnant later onHealth Question & Answer
