How do birth control prescriptions work?!

Question: How do birth control prescriptions work.?
I have just started birth control for the first time.
My doctor gave me several sample packs for the first few months and wrote me a prescription as well.
I have never had to take any kind of prescription to the pharmacy that I needed for more than one time.
Do I just drop the prescription off then call in when I need the pills.?
Or do I just go pick them up after they have the prescription on file.?

Keep the prescription in a safe place till you need it. You don't know if the pharmacy will lose the unused prescription. Once it's time to get the pills (go a few days early), give it to them and get the prescription filled. Now it will be in their computer. Then, every month, you just need to call them and they'll fill it and have it ready for you to pick up.Health Question & Answer

You can take the prescription to the pharmacy and just tell them that you won't need it for a while. They might tell you to just keep the prescription and bring it in when you're out of your sample packs. They might keep it, too, I'd call the pharmacy and ask.Health Question & Answer

Just call the same pharmacy when you need to refill. Keep at least 1 sample pack in case you lose a pill (i lost one down the drain once) because you can't refill until your insurance says you can. Which is once a month.Health Question & Answer
