Female, in a long term relationship with hubby, having problems down there after intercourse doctors mentioned maybe I have an allergy to semen but they aren't being very helpful to me and I'm getting frustrated!Health Question & Answer

they have doctors that specialize in allergies you should see one of them. I would also test it out by using condoms for a while and see if the problem occurs after using the condoms.

If condoms help the problem I would stick with using them. You could also try taking Benidryl before intercourse maybe this would help. Health Question & Answer

Women can have various reactions to a man's semen. Some reactions are burning, swelling, pain and difficulty breathing. The reaction occurs more on the outside of the vagina however there have been cases where the inside of the vagina also had a reaction. The allergic reaction makes a difficult for the couple to be sexually intimate. Find another doctor that understands what you are going through and one that will help you with medications for this.Health Question & Answer

My auntie had the same problems, I was young at the time and didn't inderstand how our bodies could be allergic to one another, but it happens. Anyway try getting a second opinion and express how uncomfortable it makes you and your relationship and they should refer you to a specialist. thry looking here for latex free condoms.

Uhh i really doubt you have an allergy. You can look up what makes up semen on google and get all the info. Then try to eat each of the components or get an allergy test for each of them.

Semen is made of: Semen contains citric acid, free amino acids, fructose, enzymes, phosphorylcholine, prostaglandin, potassium, and zinc.

I highly doubt that you're allergic to potassium, zinc, citric acid, amino acids, enzymes. (Or you'd pretty much be dying)

So that leaves phosphorylcholine, prostaglandin. And you can work from there.

In a non-medical way to test your allergy of phosphorylcholine, you could wear Proclear? and Biomedics? contact lenses from CooperVision. They use it to help keep the lenses moist.

So that just leaves prostaglandin. You could possibly be allergic to that. Do some research and find out.

Hope i helped!Health Question & Answer

Maybe you should try a different tactic, considering that you are also allergic to condoms. Why don't you use personal lubricant, a water based gel for intercourse. This may relieve any pain or minor abrasions which maybe causing your problem instead of it being an allergy to semen.Health Question & Answer

Tell him to wear a condom. And see if the problem is better after sex.

Edit: if your allergic to Latex get your partner to use non-microwaveable plastic wrap instead of a condom and see if thet helps your allegyHealth Question & Answer

I never thought it could actually happen, but it does. It becomes very sore and swollen "down there" and can actually become painful. The only thing that helps is wearing a condom.Health Question & Answer

These all sound like excuses! Either use a condom (NOT ALL CONDOMS ARE LATEX) or tell him to "pull out"
If it still hurts, it you! See a dr anywaysHealth Question & Answer
