ok, so i started my period over a year ago, and its still not on a normal cycle. i heard some where that when you first start, i could be irregular, but i don't know. also, i don't wanna tell my mom, even tho i should, because i think its a bit embarrassing. any suggestions on wht i should do.? oh, and im 14 btwHealth Question & Answer

It's fine. its masturbating- it stays irregular for a long time once started. It's okay, your normal. There's nothing wrong with that - but in case you feel uncomfortable, you should tell your mom. If you don't confide in her, and this is a problem and you don't end up seeing a doctor, you could be in serious trouble. She's your mom, she's been through this and still is. I've had times where I got nervous and embarrassed talking to my mom - it was about shaving my legs (I still don't and have been trying to persuade her for about a year. UGH! I hate hairy legs - well that's off topic). Once you start talking, it gets easier and easier and you feel fine - it isn't that hard. Just force yourself to address "mom" then just carry on with what you wanted to tell her about your irregular periods. She'll understand, you'll feel relieved, and if it's a problem, you can go to a doctor and be treated. So don't feel shy or nervous with your mom. honestly I don't think it is that big of a deal (I am not a doctor and you may really want to go to one) But I have had my period for 4 years now, and I still don't have regular periods. It's probably perfectly normal-it takes time for the hormones to level out sometimes. Don't be embarrassed to talk to your mom-she's been experiencing it for years and probably has useful info to share with you-she's just waiting for you to ask.Health Question & Answer
