What you are seeing is called "cervical mucus". Just before you ovulate, the mucous becomes very slippery, similar to an eggwhite. This mucus becomes a threadlike "ladder" which helps the sperm up through the vagina, through the cervix and into the uterus in the hopes it will fertilize an egg.

Yep, thats normal. Just wipe really well, and you can even get some baby wipes to help you clean up. Thats the way it cleans itself, so don't freak.
