LOL no you cant faint on your first period.
Ok first buy PLASTIC, regular, UNSCENTED tampons. Scented ones can cause allergic reactions or infections.

The tampon can be flushed down toliets but the plastic applicator needs to be thrown in the trash. The box will include instructions with a picture!

When I first tried tampons I was 13 and it felt weird at first. After you get used to wearing them you wont feel it when it is in. A little cord hangs down to help pull it out. Always change it every time you go the bathroom (you dont have to but it should be changed every few hours) and I would recommend wearing pads to bed to let your body breathe.

read the information in the box about TSS. Rare but fatal condition caused by bacteria building up on a tampon in your body. So change them every few hours and use regulars or supers only on super heavy days.

The first hole from the front of your body that you can stick your finger or the tampon applicator in is the correct hole (the vaginal opening). Read and follow the box directions.
I recommend plastic because card board applicators will feel weird to a first time user.Health Question & Answer

I've never heard of fainting when you're wearing your first tampon. That's the strangest myth I've heard.

I wouldn't swim without a tampon, honestly. I think it's a terrible idea because when you're putting on your bathing suit, there's a good chance you'll get blood on it/on your way to the pool, and also, yeah it pretty much stops while you're in the pool, but it'll start again when you get out.

If you can get them, I'd get the smallest available. They'll fit a lot easier than the larger ones for the heavier flows.

I would just go to the coach, and explain the situation. I can see how that's embarassing, but if you have a coach who's understanding, you should be okay. If people ask you why you're sitting out, just say you had a doctor's note or something. If you have a male coach or someone who doesn't understand that well, I would ask my mom to write a note saying I've been sick over the weekend, and need to rest more. The coaches shouldn't make you swim if you have a note signed by your mother.

Good luck. I hope all goes well. You may have an embarrassing sitation asking your mom, or explaining it to the coach, but it could save you from having an embarrassing accident if you swim without tampons!Health Question & Answer

I don't think the person who told you you can faint on your first tampon was correct. It should be perfectly healthy for you to wear a tampon. Don't be scared; that'll just make it harder to put in. It might be tricky, but just relax and follow the instructions and once you get it in, everything will be fine. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

if youv never worn them b4, buy the tampax mini tampons, they come in a pink rapper nd there smaller than normal so when you will get used to it nd you have a heavier flow you will move on to normal sized tampons, chances are the only reason you will faint is because you have heavy periods and you loose too much blood which i doubt you have because youv only just started.
Just nip to the supermarket with your mum or someone you know well and have a look what there is, theres loads of choice nowadays..
im sure you'll never switch back after you try tampons, just make sure as soon as you get out of the water you change it straight away (:Health Question & Answer

There should be no reason for you to faint whilst inserting a tampon... unless you get yourself so worked up about it... but that is the worst case scenario.

If you are gunna use a tampon make sure you relax whilst trying to insert it. If you are all tensed up then it will become difficult and maybe painful. I find using tampax compact (with applicator) easiest as they have a smooth plastic coating.

Tampons are healthy to use when swimming, playing sports or just in a normal day.

Don't be scared about a tampon.

As long as you follow the instructions in the box, you'll be fine. you won't faint. It will take practise but after a while it will become just like brushing your teeth. Buy the onces with an applicator, i found tampax were the easiest and start off with the normal size. Follow the instruction, give yourself some time to get the feel of them before going swimming. If it feels uncomfortable its not in correctly. take it out get a new one and start again. you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.Health Question & Answer

Don't worry, you can't faint. And whoever told you that is just trying to scare you. I've worn them once, but I would ask your mom. She knows more about this than anyone probably on here. Tell her you need a tampon and ask her to help figure out how to put it in. There are directions in the box. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

honestly, i didn't faint. faint is a bit 'woahh'
i tried my first yesterday, it wasnt sore, so don't panic.

Please don't try one that is too strong for your flow because you will never get it in!! Use mini's at first, they aren't actually smaller than regular but they are good for starters.

try one in school. a relaaaaaaaaaax
it should say everthing on the box.Health Question & Answer

Girls only faint because of the shock, go to your nearest supermarket and buy level 3 or above that should do it and don't worry about fainting just forget about it and you'll be fineHealth Question & Answer

Just go for the small ones for medium flow if your not sure.. It is healthy to go in the pool with a tampon if you cant get any by tomorrow just say you are having your period :) xHealth Question & Answer

Don't listen to the scare stories! They are perfectly safe.
Make sure you get the right size - you will need quite a small one as your period will be tapering off by tomorrow!Health Question & Answer
