Why'd that happen when I used a tampon?!

Question: Why'd that happen when I used a tampon.?
I'm 16. Yesterday was my cousin's 5th birthday pool party. I realized the day before that I was on my period, and I never used a tampon. My mom passed away when I was 3, I have five older brothers(no sisters to help me) and I didn't wanna ask my dad for help, awkward. So I called my aunt and told her my problem and she came over to help me. She told me what to do through the bathroom door. When I put the tampon in, it hurt like a ***** (excuse the language). So I went to the party, the whole time worrying that the tampon would fall out because it felt uncomfortable. Then when I went to change back into my clothes, I was eager to take it out...it burned and again hurt like a *****. What do you think the problem is.? And when I have sex will the same thing happen.? The hurting and burning.? Please help me, I don't have anyone I feel comfortable talking about this with..Health Question & Answer

In time it will not be so uncomfortable, and you will get use to it. Most people don't even feel them. You may have also not had it in far enough.

As for taking it out, if the tampon was not saturated with blood then that was the problem. If the tampon is lubricated with blood, it will not hurt to take out.

And no, sex is nothing like putting in or taking out a tampon.Health Question & Answer

Properly inserted tampons dont hurt. They may feel weird going in as the applicator can kinda scrape a bit , but the blood flow should help lubricate every thing and make it pretty easy. With a bit of practice the issues you had first time will go away and you will be an expert at inserting and removing them quickly and painlessly. I prefer the non applicator tampons....you use your finger to insert the tampon, its pretty easy and less scratchy.Health Question & Answer

You probably didn't put the tampon in right. It's not supposed to feel like anything at all. If you used Tampax Cardboard, that might be it. I always find that those tampons hurt for me. Next time, use Playtex Sport.
Maybe the absorbancy was too big for you.?
Read the directions that come with the tampon box and keep trying.Health Question & Answer

You probably didn't put the tampon in far enough. If it hurts, it's not right. You shouldn't be able to feel it, hands down. Try pushing it in farther next time.

I'm not sure why it's burning though, that's strange. Maybe try putting another one in again..?Health Question & Answer

you did not have it in all the way, next time use some lube, baby oil etc.. make sure its in all the way, it should not hurt at all. Health Question & Answer

If you felt it you didnt have it in right... relax and push it til your fingers touch.... you need to leave it in 8 hours so it will be full... if its dry its gonna hurt!Health Question & Answer

try with a plastic applicator and get the applicator wet! then it shouldnt hurt.Health Question & Answer
