A possible vaginal infection? or something else?!

Question: A possible vaginal infection.? or something else.?
for about a week now I've had a mild rash near my vaginal opening and in the creases of my thighs. In the creses of my legs it just looks like dry skin so I keep putting vasaline on it because I'm worried to use anything abrasive to remove the dead skin and irritate the rash. My main concern though is my hymen appears to be whitish, and I don't think it was before. I'm pretty positive it's not an STD because I've only had sex with one person since I was last tested and I'm pretty sure he is clean, but not ruling anything out. there's not really a bad smell or abnormal discharge, although it does tend to itch at night when I tend to discharge slightly more naturally. I am terrified of STDs so I'm freaking out a little bit. I've had it for about a week now, but I did scratch at it a bit at night which I know and have stopped doing, even thoguh it is hard. Help!.? what could this be.? I'm not really in any discomfort other than the itching and soreness.Health Question & Answer

it sounds like you got yourself a bad infection going on. altho you could have something causing the infection such as a std or it could be from you shaving down there and irritating it. (if you do that)

basicly your putting the wrong stuff on it. go out to your drug store and buy something for yeaste infections and put that on, it helps with the itching. vasaline, a oil based product, does nothing but keep the air out of the wound and keep it from healing. big no no.

i recomend going to your doctors to get a scaraping or just a sample of all this and make sure it's not an std. because it can very positivly be one. no matter how clean a person says they are or you think they are there's always something that you could get. so just get that checked. also i would like you to go to the docs because you can get the right type of antibiotics that will help it heal from the inside, which most creams wont do. so thats very important.

anyways i wish you the best of luck.

You may want to go to your doctor and get tested again for STD. Did you use protection when you had sex.? also, is your partner having any problems since you were together.? I was thinking it was a yeast infection, but this seems a little more severe. Check out this website and see if any of the symptoms match yours. I tried looking for you but I wasn't sure. http://www.cdc.gov/STD/

good luck!Health Question & Answer

you need to go to a doctor because you never know what it could be and it may be congestion and cause more problems if it is a STD**Health Question & Answer

You should see your gynecologist for a culture. A yeast infecion could produce rash like symptoms. However, a yeast infection usually produces a thick, cottage cheese like discharge so if you don't have that you may not have a yeast infection.
Is it possible you have been sweating a lot.? Sweating and even sometimes a lot of discharge could cause a rash from the area being too wet. Normal discharge is either clear or milky white so what you are seeing around your hymen may be normal.
Try to keep the area dry. You should see your doctor though for their opinion.

***Some parts of your vaginal tissue can look pale at times. That doesn't always mean an infection. Shaving might be part of the problem especially if you are shaving that area when it's dry. Chlorine might be irritating you if the area was already irritated to begin with.
I honestly would not buy anything over the counter since you aren't sure what it is. Over the counter treatments, at times, can actually cause another kind of infection.
Really, your uncertainty is reason enough to go and see your doctor. I highly doubt it's an STD as what you describe doesn't really fit the description. You wouldn't be the first woman to see a doctor for this kind of problem. Go get looked at so you don't have to worry so much! I hope you feel better.Health Question & Answer
