I'm not a doctor, so I cannot offer you any professional medical advice. But I get alot of purple "bumps" I guess you could call them on the backs of my legs that are sometimes ingrown hairs, but sometimes not. I'm also very pale (completely unrelated but relevant). I noticed that when i started tanning, I stopped getting the purple bumps. My only rational explanation is that the UV exposure helps to kill bacteria that cause minor infections when my hairs become ingrown or when my pores clog, and perhaps the skin on the back of my legs are more susceptible to this condition because the hair growth patterns there are varied in my case--shaving in multiple directions can cause irritations. A method that I plan to try in the future (now that its no longer summer) is using medicated body wash to cleanse my skin and prevent clogged pores/bacteria, and trying a product like nair to remove the hair on the back of my legs rather than shaving them. See a doctor. Its a skin disease. A dermatologist is a big help. The soonest the better.Health Question & Answer
It could be some kind of skin condition. You should get it checked out by a doctor.Health Question & Answer
